iheartscotch: Someone, get the holy hand grenade of Antioch befor this thread gets too silly.

And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu...

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

The journalist helpfully read the tularemia article on the CDC site, including the bit about bio-weoponization, but neglected to tell us whether it is time to panic.

I'd say, yes. Definitely panic, yeah, definitely.

Before there was Night of the Lepus, there was The Nasty Rabbit which starred Arch Hall, Jr., son of the western movie actor, and the Val Kilmer of the Twentieth Century as I like to style him.

The Nasty Rabbit is a singing-teen comedy like those made by Frankie and Elvis, only with a more wooden and less talented star. The plot involves "comic" spies, one team of which releases an infected rabbit on the Great Divide in order to wage bio-war on America. Presumably rabbits, like water, flow downhill. Why the Evil Empire behind this plot did not send more than one rabbit is unknown. Presumably they were operating within the movie's budget. That's the kind of plot holes you can entertain the entire world wide web with for decades.

Arch Hall Junior is also in Eegah, a famous B-movie given the MST3K treatment, and another spy movie in which he is a pop star recruited to act as a secret agent. He makes the big guy who plays Eegah look like a top British Shakespearean actor. The big guy, by the way, is the unique Richard Kiel whose roles include Jaws (Jaws from the Bond movies, not Jaws the shark) and IIRC, Lurch.

Also:  Wild Guitar, The Sadist (he's not intentionally sadistic, that's just the way he acts and sings)

Val Kilmer in his closest approach to being Arch Hall, Jr.: Top Secret!

The CDC noted, according to the paper, "If [the bacteria] were used as a bioweapon, the bacteria would likely be made airborne so they could be inhaled."

What a farking GREAT addition to the article. Seriously. Up until that point, I would have had no idea that the bacteria responsible for tularemia could be utilized for biological warfare.

Either the officials with the CDC are absolute morons...or they're attempting to provoke a bunch of fear-mongering to drum up the sales of rolls of plastic and duct tape again.

It's amazing how few people know about the Age of Rabbits, that arose between the dinosaurs and human civilization.  They grew to ten feet at the shoulder, and roamed the plains in vast herds.
