Bump, key, gram, toot, powder, white, devil's dandruff, booger sugar...

There's something off with that headline. Unnecessary comma maybe.

I will try, to snort coke.

I did guinea pig work in university. Had my legs shocked for a phys-Ed study. Slept in a lab while being dosed with a new benzo. Took lots of psych tests for $20 a pop.

I would definitley have signed up for this study.

they said PEOPLE WHOVE *NEVER* USED DRUGS
oh wait
it's only a Schedule IV benzo, carry on.

5monkeys: Why would anyone volunteer for this? If by 25-40 you haven't used drugs what would motivate you to think taking an addictive substance for research would be a good idea? I am 33 and haven't used drugs, and no amount of financial compensation would make me think this was a good idea.

I'm 42, and the first thing I thought when I saw the headline was: "No amount of money would make me risk a heart attack, now!"

Funny.  That's what the benzo testing docs wanted too.

I lied.

I did avoid all recreational drugs and alcohol for the week that I did their test.  Didn't want to skew their data too much.

If they can't prove anything...

I'M IN

had98c: I'm a 25-40 male who has never used drugs and has no medical history. There's no way I'd touch this with a 10 ft pole. So yeah, good luck.

In that case you're exactly what they want.  The ethics of doing an experiment like this probably include "take reasonable efforts to make sure that none of the subjects of the experiment end up with a cocaine addiction as a result of their participation."

They probably figure that someone who hits age 25 without having experimented with illegal drugs has a similar attitude to yours and is unlikely to get addicted.

Nogale: Also, how are they getting around the legal issues of procuring/administering an illegal substance?

Oh...there are ways. Secret, undocumented ways. Here in the US a few years ago, someone (DEA?) set up an experiment to make a batch of ultra-pure meth in a professional lab with actual chemists, ala Breaking Bad, to study the...uh, to study...to, to figure out the...okay fark if I know why. Anyway, supposedly it was all on the up-and-up, permitted and legal and everything.

/The experiment was to make 400 lbs. of ultra-pure, then measure the time required to sell it and trace the geographical distribution via drug busts afterwards. The experiment was run 17 times. Each time, results were inconclusive. More research is needed.

Hookers and blow. Except no hookers.

This. Plus, they're probably not dishing out amounts strong enough to get anybody high nor will they be serving it from atop the curvaceous backside of a supple hooker. If they're paying you in glowsticks and candy necklaces, however...

Jon iz teh kewl: yeah but don't you want to HAVE SEX with random strangers?  british ones at that??

Why would you need drugs to make that happen?

Odd what happens when you clearly have a bias against something.

I've taken coke before it was fun for a weekend.  It was in no way addictive, and I probably wouldn't do it again at my current age.  But there is nothing scary about the real thing, the anti-drug propaganda is mostly false.

Well, I guess this explains my wife's caffeine consumption.  Or is explained by it.
