My decade plus on Wall Street should have made me a millionaire just for 1/10 of the stress we all had on those jobs.
I find this a laugh-riot.

251K would solve it for me. No more mortgage, student loans, etc. I could go do whatever I wanted and surely be less stressed. Not really stressed now mind you, but I would be less stressed overall!

Gimme my check!

WTF is wrong with that scenario...if you can't hack the job ...get the hell out of it and let someone who isn't a wuss have it

That's a good point. I agree. If the job is "too much" for you, you shouldn't have it.

Australia is just as farked as the rest of the world.  A few years ago I read about a guy in Australia who was fired for continually removing his safety glasses while sandblasting.  He sued and the judge ordered his boss to give him his job back, citing that the guy was too stupid to get another job, so they were stuck with him.

Farkers unite down under! Sounds like the best thing going on for now, then we can stress each other out and file claims

We've apparently discovered the elusive Step 3

Step 1: Get a job as a public worker in Australia
Step 2: "Perceive" you are being shunned by other public employees
Step 3: File Worker's Comp claim
Step 4: PROFIT!

Basically. Makes me want to get a public job, then I can reap benefits. Worked 9 years in IT with deadlines-or-your-fired crap, I couldn't sue the company for purposely running me into the ground due to "hey this guy is pretty good, we don't need to hire anyone else. He can do 2-3 shifts without dying". Until I had my first CI.

The premiums will always rise.  The taxpayer will foot the bill.  Our wonderful public employees' unions.  Money for nothing and your chips from free.

Another blatant hit piece against workers.

Government employee gets $250K in workman's compensation = OUTRAGE
Corporate CEO gets millions for basically doing nothing all day = AWESOME

While their compensation packages may indeed be ridiculous, the concept that a corporate CEO does nothing all day is utterly absurd.

You're right. They do sit in meetings and sometimes have to decide stuff. It's a tough job.

Article sounds like crap with vague and misleading numbers, cherry-picked 'case studies', and little actual value.

mongbiohazard: It would sure work for me.

I would work for me but only because my house is ALMOST paid off already (inheritance). If I needed to buy one it probably wouldn't go nearly as far so I'd stress about how to not spend the money in case of emergency.

Thanks mom, I really needed to live my life worrying like this, and you taught me well.

Many are guilty of that. Some are actually the kind that work all hours, weekends, holidays and such.
I personally know a few. They are a rare breed, sadly. Also, they only get those fat checks if the company does well.
Otherwise, time to tighten the belt, because their entire life's fortune is tied to the company and if it does poorly, they are screwed.
