I have.

I was a reference librarian for a year and a half.

If you like perverts touching their penises in public and really crappy pay that is the job for you.

I bought an encyclopedia of technology.  Was trying to impress a girl.  Way outdated now, but looks nice on a shelf.

You know, maybe you're the pervert for watching me.  I mean, them.

i wish. you read up on a subject every day, a few years later you're the most interesting person wherever you choose to go. knowledge is a wonderful thing.

used sets are growing more expensive. the really old sets aren't worth buying IMHO.

My parents bought a set for my brother and I in 1976, Encyclopedia Britannica. He kept them for his kids, and now they are dust collectors.

We still have a set of a set of World Books from the early 60s from when Kennedy was still alive and the year books they came with. Unfortunately thanks to some dogs, they are in far from mint condition.

Britannica, 1988

Leather binding with gold embossing. Really looks nice.

We had a set from 1959, if I remember correctly, and every yearbook through 1969. I was bored one night and my Dad sarcastically suggested I read the encylopedia if I wanted something to do. I ended up reading the entire collection A-Z and the Yearbook every time it arrived.

We had them growing up, loved them.  Used them constantly.
I actually bought a set of world books at a garage sale for my kids, right before we got the internet.
I guess I should toss them, they are all horribly out of date, but I have a fondness for them.

I collect them.
And how to books.
And MAPs.

Some are actually worth quite a bit.

Me too, and now my wife wants to know why I am full of worthless information.
