I just realized I have no desire to spend a week on a cruise ship. I thought I did.

Huh, wish I knew about that video when the question about cruises came up on TFD last week. That very nearly sums it up except it was biased toward the positive side. Would have come in handy.

Yeah.  That video is a nice summary  of  "oh, I could see and pay less for most of this stupid shiat in 30 minutes if I wanted to." *

But without the cruise ship, I wouldn't get to see the emptiness of the sea, from horizon to horizon.  Kinda neat to see once, but rubs off in less than 14 minutes.

I guessing that of the lucky schmucks, from the deep suburbs and rural tracts, who take these cruises... the ones who get a real adventure are those that get to have the stomach virus or the power failure that causes the sewage system to cover entire decks with shiat and tampons belched out from the unpumped lines.  Them's some stories you can tell the grandkids.

I'd love to be on one as long as there were no more than 100 other people, preferably hot chicks.

I'm surprised they let him film in the photos area. They go mental if they see you filming or taking pictures there. It's against the rules "For the privacy of the other guests" they say. In actuality it's because they want you to buy your overpriced photos, not film or take pictures of your overpriced photos.

on a cruise i heard a father going ape shiate because the pictures of his preteen daughter were missing[only her pics not the rest of the family]. oh, they weren't missing but were bought by someone else. funniest part was how dad was screaming at the top of his lungs to get attention as he made his way to the pursers desk and the general manager. the look on dads face when he has this audience assembled and the manager says there is nothing i can do and won't tell you the persons name or get the photos-what a person buys is private.

Cruises are nice if you want to see some nice places, not have to plan your vacation much at all, and don't mind doing mostly touristy things in the places you stop.

Do you know who else hated cruise ships?

I lasted seven seconds.  Comedians with talent don't need to talk like that to get a laugh.

You can do that anywhere.

I was about to weaken and give in and do a cruise with the wife.  This just put several grand back in my pocket. Much obliged.

Five years ago I booked a two week cruise on RC that started in Rio and ended in England because the cruise line was retiring a ship to Europe.  It was two weeks and $900 total for my wife and I in a deluxe balcony room.   It was the best vacation I ever had, and I've been all over - Asia, Western Europe, Australia, and all 48 contiguous US states.

Haters can hate, but we had a full seven days at sea with no phone reception and internet access was through satellite if you wanted to pay $15 an hour, and it was glorious.  We spent all our time on deck because the weather got cold so the old people wouldn't come out and the bartenders comped out drinks because we were the only people there.  We slept outside on the deck and just looked at the sky every night.  Without any light pollution the sky was amazing and we could track changes from night to night.

90% of cruises might not be great, but I'll chalk that one up to the upper 10%.  We got to shipwreck dive in the Caribbean at the beginning and tour Windsor castle at the end.  In between, we got a church tour of Lisbon and some coastal city in Spain (can't remember the name).

Don't go on a cruise just to be on a boat, but if you get a deal, you'll get easy access to some great things to see.

I saw a picture of Jessica Alba once....guess that means I don't want to bang her because it's basically the same thing.
