Ted's intellect is too far beyond us. We have no more hope of understanding him than a cat understands a man doing calculus.

2013-02-22 05:22:48 PM

Skyrmion: Wait. Are we sure the Onion A.V. Club isn't also satire?

It most certainly is "satire," in the sense that it is "a prose composition, in which prevailing vices or follies are held up to ridicule." More specifically, it is journalism ("Ted Nugent is naming his upcoming tour 'Black Power'") reported with a satirical edge, pointing out that despite his claims to the contrary, Ted Nugent lacks sensitivity to racial issues. But simply because something is presented in a satirical way doesn't mean it's fictitious (fictitious satire usually takes on the form of parody, and this article is certainly not parody).

Remember all those conservatives complaining about celebrities who talk politics? Shut up and sing? Complaining about Sean Penn, George Clooney, or Matt Damon are being "too political?" I think it shows real courage on their part when they say absolutely nothing when the celebrity's saying political stuff they like.

Or maybe it has more to do with the conservative celebrities mostly being washed up has beens, who knows. At least they've got Eastwood. And the Republicans also had Steve McQueen.

then i had a thought

more and more ted nugent's rants remind me of jailhouse interviews with charles manson - self-serving, rambling, disconnected, wide-scope, egotistical rants by a person with no real current popularity

i wonder how mrs nugent is faring these days

I like to imagine they were people like this that had one moment of clarity and realized just how completely and abysmally retarded their entire existence is.

Not sure if it's to his credit. Until hearing that now i blamed his lack of intelligence on constant alcohol abuse.

Remember when he became the legal guardian of a 17 year-old he was banging? But at least he didn't do drugs!

I refuse to believe Nugent has never done drugs. You'd think a normal person would WANT to blame his behavior on something besides "Hey, this is my normal condition! I'm like this naturally!"

Just the ones left alive, Little Richard, BB King, "Sam", 3 Funk Brothers, and of course, Chuck Berry, could punch a serious hole in Ted's assertion that he facilitates interracial unity.  Hell all you need is for Chuck Berry to wordlessly shiat on Ted's chest and walk away.

Makes perfect sense.

When I hear the deep wailing pain and suffering of a poverty stricken black man singing an ancient slave labor farm song, I can't help but think Ted Nugent.

The sounds of a uplifting Southern Church all-black choir lifting their voices in thanks and praise to God on a sunny Sunday 'more speak to me of Ted Nugent.

Sometimes I pour over my old Blues albums. Those songs of the Delta, the tunes from Chicago, those wonderful basic rhythms and incredible old black men sharing their pain and suffering take me right to Ted Nugent.

I love the Soul music too. And when I'm blasting Soul, I'm picturing...Ted Nugent.

One of my most all-time beloved genres of music is Funk. The horns, the bass, George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, and standing out front is Ted Nugent.

Being a white boy I don't know all that much Hip Hop and Rap. Tupac, Biggie, Fiddy Cent, Notorious, Naz, Ted Nugent.

Seriously, he has just become a caricature of himself at this point.

Does this man really have anything to say?

While I am sure there is a percentage of the population that shares his political views, it is a small percent. They just happen to be the loudest and get the best TV ratings because they are such true believers. And the same can be said for democrats.

Holy shiat, there's actually some intelligent comments there. Thanks for pointing that out - I am now waiting for space-time to collapse upon itself.

WND comment I found interesting enough to repost:

Honor?

"Apartheid isn't that cut and dry. All men are not created equal. The preponderance of South Africa is a different breed of man ... They still put bones in their noses, they still walk around naked, they wipe their butts with their hands ...These are different people. You give 'em toothpaste, they f*****g eat it."

He's being perfectly consistent with how he's always been.  His musical heroes were always black Motown artists and he's always considered himself to be more true to that scene than what R&B ended up becoming, He's been saying this pretty much forever, which is why I've always scoffed at the critics who call him racist.

I saw Chuck a year or two ago. It was cool to see but sadly (and understandably) his guitar skills have diminished to the level of a kid who just picked up a guitar a month ago. And I'm not exaggerating.

Yet another Ted Nugent article?  I suspect this is part of the reason why political discourse in this country is so poisonous.  People keep putting the crazies from both sides front and center.  If Fark actually linked to a George Will article, the strongest response from the left, even the flaming pinko liberals, would probably be "I disagree with him, but he makes some interesting points".

You must have missed this one.

Say what you want about Ted's political opinions...he had a had a rockin' combo in the early seventies. He had a different sound than most of the other seventies axe-slingers...running his Gibson Byrdland hollow-body through Fender Bassman amps. Check out Hibernation which Ted dedicates to his mama. Love the sound he gets controlling the feedback and pressing the string behind the bridge for the pitch bend...and the faces Ted makes are not to be missed.

In this, he's a lot like the musical version of the Ultimate Warrior. Entertaining? Sure. Wacko nut job with questionable ethics? Oh, yes.

Actually, I'm wondering if they're related.
