NINE farking percent whether or not the car is purchased?  Holy shiatballs.  I could see maybe five percent if the sum total of the donations never make it to the amount needed for the car, or if the recipient decides to just take the cash.

Eh, I'm starting a small business and in need of a company car. I checked this out when I first heard about it and figured I'd give it a closer look and see if raising donations for a new car would be preferable to hunting around for a used one I could afford.

The main problem I found with their system to be that once you spec a vehicle, they don't give you any idea what the MSRP on it is (no indication of what trim level the car you're building is either-- there are very few correlations between the dart registry and the "spec your own" system on the actual Dart site), but you have to decide what your fundraising goal is. So they set up a system that allows you to get donations for a car you don't know the cost of. Not sure what to make of that.

Late in the series, after Radar and Klinger turn with the jeeps, Winchester had Grizzo take a jeep apart, place each piece on a sheet, labeled then reassembled.  All because he had a near-death experience.

Go to a bank and set up a special account include that information with the invitations, and Say something to effect of "We have all the household goods we need to start our life together, please help us with a monetary donation so we may buy a new family car to embark on our new life's journey."

I was in a similar situation when I married my 2nd wife, we were both professionals, we both owned our own homes, but it was her 1st marriage and her family would not follow a "No Gifts"  notice on the invitations, so we set up an account at a local bank to pay for my wife's airplane's major overhaul that coming up and printed on the invitations "In lieu of gifts, please help us keep our airplane in the air, our life together began with our plane." since her family knew she lived to fly and my family knew we met in that airplane when she was my flight instructor, we got about 1/3 of the cost covered.

I'd like to know who is rich enough to have family that can donate a thousand dollars, but isn't rich enough just buy the car outright. It's a very specific bracket.

Friends of one our kids did this. They put in the wedding invite a note along the lines of "we really have everything so are not registered anywhere but will need a car, nothing fancy, so if you do want to give a gift please consider something to help us towards that goal."  They got enough to get a good 2-3 year old used car with low mileage and are very happy with it.
