Unlikely tag?

2013-02-22 04:07:28 PM
They certainly could make it. Currently 5.5 out of 6th place (I use that basically because I think the Warriors aren't all that great - in fact, Golden State and Utah have both been outscored by their opponents this year despite having winning records. They have a lot of games against the bottom two teams in every division, too, and two more against the Warriors, who they're 2-0 against already. So if they sweep the Warriors, then they only have to make up 3.5 games.

Good lord, they might catch the Warriors within a few weeks:

Warriors upcoming schedule
vs Spurs
@ Minnesota
@ Indiana
@ NY Knicks (back-to-back)
@ Boston
@ Philadelphia (back-to-back)

Of course, after that they have a 7-game homestand. But they do have Houston, the Knicks, and Chicago coming in. Not easy.

Stern let him peek at the script?

All Kobe has to do is say he is retiring at the end of the season.  He will get his ring.

2013-02-22 05:04:56 PM
Lakers will make the playoffs. Stern and ref cronies will make it so they at least get to the semi's if not finals.

Kobe must tie Jordan....he must!

We get it, you're a lakers fan

Even if they get in the season is still one of the biggest fails of all time if they don't hoist up that trophy because at this point in the year we shouldn't be talking about IF they get in, but with the acquisitions they made we should be talking about if anyone can beat them

Kobe must get his 6th ring!

Durant must get his ring to set up a rivalry between him and LeBron for the next 5 years!  The fix is in!

LeBron must get another ring to be mentioned with the all time greats and make the Heat an evil empire!

The Rockets must beat the Thunder, the revenge of Harden!

The Bobcats must get a #1 pick so Jordan can fark it up somehow!

Sooner or later I'll get one of these right.

We're done here.

well, he practically said as much during Dr Buss' memorial service yesterday, and Magic in a roundabout way called out the whole team as well.
That said, I have seen them throw the switch and win it all, but I really dont think they get out of the first round this year.I hope that I am wrong

How about we force the Lakers and Bobcats to merge, purely for the lulz.

Should we hire the guy the Knicks just fired or Phil Jackson?

It's the NBA. Who DOESN'T make the playoffs? It's a 50-50 shot. They're only 3 games out of the last spot right now. And if they get in they meet the Spurs in round 1 and just delay their summer plans. For fark's sake, the Bucks are in right now. Bold statement Kobe! You da man!

It doesn't matter if is or not because he actually is right, this time.

As far as the quality of their play this season, that's off topic.  Realistically, they're a bunch of old folks and square pegs.  Kobe and Dwight are polar opposites on personal levels and Kobe has never played (well) with a real pointguard like Nash.  Great bunch of players, bad team.

Bad mouth Ron Artest.  I dare you.

It is to save face at this point. Still, I can't believe Kobe would double-down on these Lakers with a guarantee. Just play the game, if you make it, you make it. If you don't, we all know Kobe tried anyways.

If they make it, Cleveland can haz their 1st round pick. Go, Los Angeles Kobes!

Well if the Lakers played in the East they'd probably be in the playoffs, teams under .500 seem to make the playoffs every year in that shallow conference. Only saying that because you brought up the Bucks, a team that would have no shot in the West.

But he's metta world peace now...violence and anger are a thing of the past for him right? He should be able to just shrug it off shouldn't he?

Artest is a lowlife sack of shiat and always will be, he can call himself whatever he wants it still won't change the spots on that leopard

I bad mouthed him, now what??

you have pee hands:

FFS, the Harden thing again.  It would have been long term suicide to lock up cash on him now and not have the cap room and cash to be able to keep Ibaka and Sefolosa.

It's funny because simply stating basic truths gets you branded as a fan of someone/some team - instead I should just be blindly hating and ignoring trends and likelihoods. I don't like the Lakers at all, but they have a pretty solid chance of making the playoffs. They'll be first-round fodder for probably OKC or the Spurs, and given the hype going into the season, they're a huge disappointment...but let's not act as though they have no chance of making the playoffs. There's plenty of season left to go and they're close enough and getting better as a team. They also have what seems to be an easier schedule, although the Warriors certainly helped themselves considerably by beating San Antonio for the first time in the past 17 meetings, something I certainly wouldn't have predicted.

As for World Peace...don't remember the whole argument, but basically it boiled down to the fact that Artest has admitted to having mental issues and the incident he's most famous for, he was baited into and, had he hit the right person, I fully support his actions. Fans who throw sh*t at players deserve to get the sh*t beaten out of them. Unfortunately, he sucks at identifying people (not that it's easy).
