Bush pardoning that turkey was caving in to Liberals! Bush should have told us all that the Turkey committed some vicious crimes and it's meat had into on the attacks so the meat would have to be removed and stored until it started talking.

Ashcroft for President!

This is going to be a slow news day, I can tell already.

WHy is anyone surprised? American presidents LYING? THat isn't exactly unusual. It seems to be a major skill necessary for the job.

Damn hippies always need something to complain about. farking peta-huggers.

who cares!!! its a farking turkey! it is good that the president pardons the turkey. kids like it, hell, i like it. it is a tradition. it lasts 5 minutes then it is over. if the turkey were taken straight from there to the butterball factory and made into a stew, i wouldnt give a shiat. mmmmmmmmmm... turkey!

2001-11-27 08:35:32 AM
John Stossel is such a farking whiner. You'd think he could at least find something to whine about that someone cared about.

2001-11-27 08:35:49 AM
Pardoning turkeys is good fun, but shouldn't institutions as powerful as governments be telling the people the truth? Give me a break!

Geez, Stossel...lighten up! It's a frickin' TURKEY!!!!!

2001-11-27 08:36:51 AM
Of COURSE Dubya pardoned that turkey! Did anyone look at the picture? Liberty the turkey is giving him a hummer of Lewinsky proportions!

2001-11-27 08:52:02 AM
Bill Clinton pardoned eight.

Methinks Clinton pardoned more than eight turkeys during his presidency.

I'd love to see a president have the balls to get up and say, "Folks, I've decided that this turkey isn't getting pardoned this year. We're going to eat him. Bring on the chef so we can get started!" and actually DO it. It would be akin to someone pulling the beard off Santa Claus at the mall with little kids around. Funny!

Someone call PETA.

And yes, Fb-, I think it's a slow news WEEK. No planes falling out of the sky, no anthrax, no nothing. [Just us trying to rebuild Afghanistan, and [yawn] who cares about that?

2001-11-27 09:14:13 AM
I'd be offended if I were one of the guys with the Prez in that photo. If you hold your mouse pointer over the photo, you get a title that isn't very specific... :)

"Their flesh has grown so fast, and their heart and their bones and their other organs can't catch up," said Acock.

Blech. Glad I eat organic meat.

2001-11-27 09:23:04 AM
It looks like Bush is getting gobbled in the photo.

2001-11-27 09:33:53 AM
Can somebody say: "slow news day"??

2001-11-27 09:36:46 AM
Well no shiat! The turkeys have been living in cramped cages that are stacked on top of one another. Living in their own feces. They most likely never saw any daylight. Their beaks had been cut off. Hummmmmm.......I wonder why they aren't doing well?!?!?!

I would NEVER eat something like that!

2001-11-27 09:46:16 AM
Good, dont eat it. That just leaves more for me! Turkey Hugger!

2001-11-27 09:51:56 AM
If only the same fate would befall the other recipients of presidential pardons.

I was wondering whether the story was going to turn out to be something about Iran-Contra.

"Pardoning turkeys is good fun, but shouldn't institutions as powerful as governments be telling the people the truth? Give me a break!"
The lying is a tradition in itself, like for instance "I did not have sexual relations with them there women" or "I did not inhale on dat there wacky tabacky" or "I never did cocaine in college"

2001-11-27 10:26:09 AM
Eli: Organic meat = no growth hormones, antibiotics, or any of the other crap U.S. factory farms forcefeed/inject into their livestock. Organically raised animals can eat grass out in a pasture instead of eating their grounded up peers in a pen they can't turn around in. Most of the rest of the world has outlawed rBGH (bovine growth hormone) b/c there is scientific evidence it has negative health impacts. (Here's an article about rBGH: http://www.global-reality.com/biotech/articles/news017.htm)I'm not trying to "convert" anyone, i'm just responding to your smartass post. :~)

More obese petting zoo canidates.

Turkey surrenders......

2001-11-27 11:32:18 AM
And another political PR stunt is revealed for what it really is.

Oh what tempting choices the author gives us: either Dubya doesn't KNOW what he's doing, or he's LYING intentionally.

In otherwords, he's being, well, Dubya!

2001-11-27 11:40:06 AM
somehow I doubt there are people out there who truly care that the pardoned turkeys don't live very long.

2001-11-27 11:59:11 AM
john stossel needs to find a hobby.
journalism does NOT count as a hobby.

he must be DESPERATE for a story to have done this one.

2001-11-27 12:04:07 PM
John Stossel is my hero! He should be made president and condim all you turkeys to be devoured by good ol' red blooded Americans.
So ...
Anyone know when his next special comes out?

2001-11-27 12:18:50 PM
Wha.....?!? Next you'll be telling me there is no Santa Claus. Get serious!

2001-11-27 01:51:50 PM
So, we can whine about the turkey not living anyway, or whine that our tax dollars go to providing "turkey welfare" for the other pardoned birds (assuming they lived)?

Some choice.

2001-11-27 02:08:54 PM
I can't believe no one has made fun of this guys name yet.....come on....Acock? Bush? There must be a joke there somewhere. I'm sorely disappointed.

2001-11-27 04:26:30 PM

Jeez, what a waste.

They could have sent a 55-pound bird to ME...

I mean, uh... a homeless shelter.

2001-11-27 04:34:19 PM
*sniffle* *sniffle* *wheeze* *sob*
You mean all those turkeys since H. S Truman actually died shortly after they were pardoned???
Bwaaaaa... bwaaaaa ....
Damned lying government! Truman, Ike, JFK, LBJ, Tricky, Jimmy, Ronnie, Bushies and Slickster ... you're ALL THE SAME!

2001-11-27 05:07:30 PM
Sounds right on par with standard US Goverment procedure.. It got nothing to do with actually doing a good thing at all.. Only with having the appearance of doing a good thing..

2001-11-28 01:39:37 AM
I swear to god and all that is holy or unholy that the picture of bush getting head from that turkey is a doctored photo that showed up in these here forums. Am I going insane? Is this real? Am I an idiot? someone help me out!

2001-11-28 04:21:12 AM
The whole thing's just publicity. If anyone really cared about the turkey, they'd long have thought to take a baby turkey that hasn't been over-fed so much and that could live at the petting zoo.

2001-11-28 09:26:31 AM
This is SO much more entertaining than the actual news story.

2001-11-28 09:30:02 AM
oops..I meant to link the bird picture. http://i.abcnews.com/@v=0605854@/media/2020/images/rt_bush_turkey_011120_nh.jp g
