While that wasn't very impressive it may interest you to know that Kanzi, who is a bonobo chimp on a primate reserve, has taught himself how to light fires and cook his food. i253.photobucket.comThe upside to have a cooking bonobo is that if he messes up your order there he's always ready with a complimentary handjob.

If only we, as a society, could solve all our problems like bonobos do.

To The Escape Zeppelin!: Christ. Most chemistry experiments are less complicated than that recipe.

This recipe is for the obsessive Japanese house wife who is stuck at home and needs something to fill her lonely hours. It contains a number of ritualistic steps seemingly to make the process more important.

Professional chefs learn to be more efficient. Also you would normally only get this dish in a restaurant  because chefs can pro-rate things like cooking up big pots of the various stocks to use in several different dishes.

A housewife would probably spend 6 times the time to make 2 servings as would a pro-chef in a large setting though that she does would be seen as a status symbol for her salaryman husband.

I couldn't understand why they obsessed with removing the fat from the pan and skimming it from the broth.

The entire time, the dog looks like he/she is just wanting her to toss some of that crap on the damned floor because it wants one last meal before someone jams him/her in the oven....

Whereas Americans would've spread the fat over bacon and then fry it.

/Just kidding :p

I think that, seeing other videos (I ventured into that channel), there's another cook. So maybe that other cook is hospitalized?.

That, or the dog just wasn't happy about ending up as dinner XD.

The only article I could find about it said that she was in an accident riding her bicycle in the Tokyo suburbs, and was medevac'd to the ICU. That was from February of 2012 though. The Cooking With Dog FB page is current, and Chef and Francis were apparently on an NHK show in January. So, looks like she pulled through.

What happened to this lady?  The ending was a cliff hanger!

"Thank you very much for your kind words and prayers from around the world.  Chef was transferred from ICU to the general ward at the end of January, but her recovery will take many months and include a long rehabilitation period.  I don't know the schedule at this point, but I will make sure that she will get well as soon as possible.  Thank you again for being so thoughtful."

thanks for an update.  the video was interesting enough but the end message got a real 'wtf?' from me.

She was struck by a car while riding her bike and was in the hospital for a few months.  The announcement was at the end of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdnjwLUhnLQ

"First I would like to say thank you to all our viewers for supporting our show.  Today I am afraid I have some very sad news.  On January 15th, Chef sustained serious injuries while riding her bicycle in the suburbs of Tokyo.  She was rushed to the ICU by helicopter.  I certainly understand your worries and concerns.  She is now in stable condition, but unfortunately I am unable to give any other information at this time.  I would like to apologize in advance for not being able to respond to your messages during this tragic turn of events."

Item 1:  That searing hot pan is extremely close to that ape's dangly bits.  Ouch.  I've cooked naked occasionally, but never whilst humping the skillet.

Item 2:  Good god that was an obnoxiously complicated recipe.  It just proves again that Vietnamese pho is the single greatest soup in the history of ever.

pfffft - my cat downloaded and installed Chrome on a laptop once.

And then proceeded to open about 100 windows.

I refuse to believe that I was too drunk to remember installing it and the cat just sat or slept on the keyboard for a while.

Either way, I think it's impressive because the only ways I can think of to open a new window is to use the drop down menu with the mouse or Ctrl+N which I think would be tricky to hit without intentionally doing so.

She knows she's not allowed on my desk and especially not on the laptop, but sometimes she does it anyway just to let me know that I'm not the boss of her.

Well that was interesting. At the beginning I didn't understand a lick of Japanese, but by the end I was understanding nearly every word. How cool is that!?
