No, Russian sounds like a normal, Eastern European language.  Hungarian, on the other hand, sounds utterly alien.  My paternal grandmother and her 5 sisters were all from Hungary.  When they'd get together, it sounded like Klingons discussing battle strategy.

There was a great one of her and Justin Timberlake at a Russian press conference. She made the reporter look like a moron.  She was great, and of course, incredibly sexy the whole time.

That's because most Eastern European languages are Slavic.  Hungarian is so "weird" because it's Uralic (a family completely different from Indo-European) with Finnish and Estonian.

Russian is a Slavic language. It's not related to Finnish, Estonian, or Basque. Hungarian, Finnish and Estonian are related to each other. They are in the Finno-Urgric language family. Basque is a language isolate. It is related to no other living language or known dead language.

I lived in Prague for a year teaching English.  When hot Eastern European women speak their language, it's hot.  When ugly women do it, it sounds like a cow having phlegm issues.   Luckily, eastern european women are the hottest women on the planet, so I got to enjoy the former much moreso than I had to suffer through the latter.

German is much like Russian, in my opinion, in that it can be both a rather harsh sounding language and a ridiculously sexy sounding language. It all comes down to who is doing the speaking.

And now to get the rest of the way back on topic.

Not to be pedantic, but the language family for Finnish, Estonian, and Hungarian is technically Uralic; Finno-Ugric is one branch of it, with the Samoyedic languages on the other branch (according to some theories, the Samoyedic languages were the first to split away from the Uralic root stock).  It's pretty common to call the whole thing Finno-Ugric, although slightly inaccurate.  Internal classifications, especially in the Finno-Ugric branch, are a source of great conjecture and a ton of argument; there's a whole (non-mainstream) school of thought that Hungarian is actually a Turkic language with Uralic influences, rather than a Uralic language with a lot of Turkic influences, and that Uralic isn't a legitimate language family.  That's a pretty fringey theory, although it does have some well-known adherents.

Sorry--that was pretty pedantic.  I so rarely get to talk about Uralic stuff these days.  Carry on.

Also, there's evidence that Basque may be related to (or more likely descended from) Aquitainian, which is extinct.  I'm not a Vasconist, so I don't know the details well, but it's the only theory out of hundreds regarding "Basque related to X" that has any traction, and the only one Larry Trask (one of the leading Basque experts of the 20th Century) felt was plausible.

Guys have asked me to speak Spanish while doing it and I always declined. Mostly because they wanted me to call them Papi and the only man I will ever call that is my father and I have no issues regarding him.

On the other hand the last guy I dated never explicitly asked me to do it but would always comment how hot it was when I would call him a name in Spanish or order in a Mexican restaurant.

It probably doesn't help that most people get their impression from non-German actors playing soldiers or Nazis who are barking orders - actors who are usually doing such a crappy job at pronouncing the language that even Germans need the subtitles (if any).

I am friends with this Muslim guy on facebook.  He always sounds like a Klingon.

An excerpt:

The dog Bashar and his filthy shabiha militia will roam free like the wild dogs for a while, their doom is only on the horizon. We cast our glance at the so called super powers of the past like Phirawn (Pharoah) who reigned in his land but only for a short while till Allah azzawajal used his prophet Musa (Alayhisalaam) from amidst Phirawns own kingdom, to account him, challenge him and expose him. Then we find Allah supported His beloved Prophet Musa (Alayhisalam) and drowned Phirawn and his militia.
In the end, the result was only that Allah All Mighty preserved his body for the word to see what the consequences are for people that seek to tread his arrogant path. Humiliation and mockery for them!

Juel1979: Neondistraction: Juel1979: It wasn't seeing her speaking it, but she spoke Russian in the Spies Like Us parody on Family Guy. Was in the credits, iirc.

She's in the credits for every episode, she's a regular cast member.  Well, except for the first season or two anyway.

NO KIDDING?!

;)

But in all seriousness, I knew this. I preferred Lacy Chalbert, tbh. But it was that one episode she spoke Russian as Meg during one of those credits sequences where it's not just black and text, but actually the end to the episode.

Ah, I misunderstood what you said.  I thought you were pointing out that she was listed in the credits rather than stating that the scene happened during the credits.

Adam West also spoke some Russian in that episode.  I have no idea how accurate it was, but it sounded like it was actual words and not just gibberish.

My mom is from Poland, and still speaks Polish when talking to her relatives.  When her and my father were married, my cousins on my father's side would comment to me on how she always sounded angry when speaking in Polish, then she would burst out laughing.

Girion47: Lsherm: Diogenes: Tak the Hideous New Girl: I am so happy that Mila Kunis is a big star. I think she deserves it.

She took what essentially was a one-note, extremely annoying character on "That 70s Show" and made her totally adorable.

Who knew out of that crew that she and Kutcher would go the farthest?

For a while it looked like Topher Grace was going to be the wunderkind, but he farked it up.

almost as if a black stain grew upon his career, slowly spreading, poisoning his roles, ruining his movies.  I'm sure he felt he was improving, but all along it was the wrong path.

sorry, didn't mean to wax symbiotic.

With some languages, when someone cusses you out in them, you know you are getting cussed out.  Comanche is one such language.

Does she have something poking her in her top boobs? Top of the dress so it won't fall down?
