Al Rienert's amazing documentary For All Mankind dwells on this subject a bit, pairing voiceovers of the Apollo astronauts with footage they took on their missions to the moon, accompanied by Brian Eno's haunting score. It's pretty moving to hear a bunch of gung-ho fighter jocks speaking with thoughtful reverence about the frailty and beauty of the Earth against the backdrop of empty space.

Follow Commander Chris Hadfield on Twitter. He posts pictures of the Earth from space every day.

How about some of our more blinkered political and religious leaders?

Views from ISS flying over Earth, in HD: My perfect video would be this video with this audio.

/and if you don't think what we do has any effect... see what it's like on the island Midway, 2000 miles from any continent. BE WARNED. This link is sobering. It's probably THE most depressing thing you'll ever see in your entire life. Link. But we should be made aware of our actions. And this is the only planet we have.

"...and fully understood that the molecules in my body, the molecules in my partner's body, and in the spacecraft, had been prototyped in some ancient generation of stars. In other words, it was pretty obvious from those descriptions that we're stardust."

Beautiful and amazing. Thank you, Subby.

Straight into the Sun.  Or maybe a good flensing in the acid-hurricanes of Venus.

That's my first impulse as well, but really - we want these newly-enlightened choads to come back and convince their sheep to stop being such exclusionary triumphalist dickwads.

It is, however, a solution to the bulk of humanity's problems that is slightly less unrealistic than most.
Unpartisan, fact-based and without reliance on supernatural agents or their interpreters.  Should this link and this thread tangent move?
