Isn't there a preponderance of Mormons in the FBI? What are they teaching those kids in Utah these days?

The FBI has been corrupt since ...

Well, the FBI has always been corrupt. From does-this-dress-make-me-look-fat Hoover in the very beginning through COINTELPRO, past Ruby Ridge and Wako, and right up to the end of this sentence (and beyond).

So he was dealing both drugs and users? Is there big money in user dealing?

What was it Arlo Guthrie said about the FBI? Something along the lines of, "it's an environment where you have to be a natural bastard, and this can grow and develop and take a meaningful place in today's complex society."

Some things never change.

\except Arlo, who is inexplicably a Rethuglican now. WTF?

It's more commonly refered to as sex trafficing, but yes.

Maybe they should just stop monitoring it.  Then everyone would be happy, right?  "We have no evidence that sexting is occurring with government issued blackberries, or that they're being using for non-official purposes, director."

If you look for problems, chances are, you'll find them.  Stop looking; live a happier existence.

Another FBI worker "was involved in a domestic dispute at mistress' apartment, requiring police intervention. Employee was drunk and uncooperative with police" and "refused to relinquish his weapon, making it necessary for the officers to physically subdue him, take the loaded weapon and place employee in handcuffs

Vermont, huh? OK that does make a difference. Sounds like you're talking old school Republican, before the G.O.P. went religiously insane. I can dig that. At least it's not as strange as Moe Tucker becoming a Tea Party member.

I've heard this somewhere too, I don't remember where. Something about how they were the only ones that could pass the ethical testing.

RTA: their supervisors and for one agent, the regular uniform police.

The don't put surveillance on your boss' office was funny, however no such rule about putting surveillance on the agents under your command.

I guess one drug dealer had to try the I have a FBI agent to protect me because I married her.  Too bad it didn't work very well, he is probably in jail and still married to her.  That'll teach the next drug dealer not to go marrying FBI agents.

It WAS true of the NSA for a long time, however, so much so that their only big branch office outside the DC area  was in Salt Lake City

The FBI issues these quarterly reports in an effort to stop what FBI assistant director Candice Will calls a "rash of sexting cases."

Just FYI, AD Will: you don't usually get those from sexting.

Can they still steal coke from drug raids or is the department completely useless now?

Yeah it's actually about cheap space and a cheap labor force. Fort Meade has the largest super computer in the world and the NSA uses it break code and the Salt Lake County facility at Camp Williams army base will have yottabytes (1024) of capacity and will be the largest data storage center in the world. They put it there because of cheap land cheap labor and cheap power. They have guys armed with tanks watching their backs and it's about 5 air minutes from Hill AFB if they needed anything in the way of air support. That's where they train NATO pilots in whatever new jet is the latest and greatest and it's amusing to look down from the top of Wildcat in Alta into a fighter cockpit. The crew there will just be changing hard drives as needed in a janitorial capacity and all the cloak and dagger stuff stays in DC. It won't even be open for another 1-2 years.

We all have lapses in good judgement on occasion. Discipline them and move on. People make mistakes.

I know two people that work there. I can honestly tell you with a clear conscience they are the nicest, most friendly and well rounded people...and we are really well off with these people there. Their use of humor is off the charts. They are really fun to be around... and I miss being around them...as they don't let them work where they grew up.

"When you are given an FBI BlackBerry, it's for official use. It's not to text the woman in another office who you found attractive or to send a picture of yourself in a state of undress. That is not why we provide you an FBI BlackBerry."

That passage really has a certain "Timmy, spit that out. We do NOT eat glue. What is glue for, Timmy? Timmy, look at me. TIMMY, FOCUS." quality to it.

This bothers me not a whit.  But some of the stuff in the book "Blowing My Cover" was unsettling.  Like how after 9-11 the agent tried to build ties with people who themselves had ties to terrorists so she could contribute more useful information to her bosses than the stuff she normally got.

Her requests to target those people for recruitment was turned down because of.... wait for it.... their ties to terrorists.

I know large gov. agencies can't turn on a dime, but I can understand why her level of frustration was too high to carry on after that.

it starts at the top. you have the White House filled with corrupt horrible greedy people and all the horrible things they do. i could write examples of all night, you already know what i'm talking about. when those at the top set such an example this is what you get. humans being less than spectacular.
