Umm, yeah... I think they need to look into replacing the cistern, if possible. Or they could line it with something.

I expect in a few years this hotel will be known for having a ghost on tap.

Can't imagine what she was trying to do in the tank. That kind of thing is really dangerous. As she found out, apparently.

2013-02-22 10:18:52 AM

Elisa Lam, 21, of Vancouver was found dead in the tank by a maintenance worker on Tuesday, after guests complained of low water pressure.

Well, tanks a lot.

Guests at the Cecil hotel have probably put much, much worse things in their mouths.

Here's a link to a surveillance camera's footage that shows Ms. Lam's last known location (well, prior to corpse-watering up the place).

It looks as though she is either mentally ill / outta her mind on drugs, or playing drunken hide-and-seek with a companion who's holding down the door-open button.

The worst thing is that after a shower at that hotel you need another one an hour later.
I know, low hanging fruit.

The Cecil used to be one of the best peeler bars in Vancouver.
I cried like a baby the day they closed it down.

What happened to you, Vancouver? You used to be cool.

That's quite a bit more than the little bit of that video CNN had the other day. Can't even begin to imagine what the hell she was up to there. Or how or why she managed to get to the roof and inside of a water tank.

We went to a resort hotel a few years ago, and on our second day there, I went down to the indoor pool/spa to find a sign, "SORRY, POOL AND SPA CLOSED FOR 10 DAYS FOR REMODELING."  I was livid...you guys let me make a reservation at an expensive resort hotel, and you couldn't bother to tell me that the pool and spa would be closed almost the entire time I was scheduled to be here?  And it was the usual, "I can offer you $100 off your stay for the week, but there is nothing more I can do," and that last part was delivered in a very firm, almost angry tone, like, "Take it or leave it, I really don't care, I'm so sick of whining customers."  So--won't be going back there.  (St. Julien Hotel in Boulder.)

But I had no reason to believe that anybody actually died in the pool.

Didn't witness this, but heard it from my wife and kid:  They were at the gym for the kid's swimming lessons, and one of the younger students took a crap in the pool.  The staff immediately got everyone out and sent in a Roomba-like vacuum robot to retrieve the turd.  We truly live in an age of wonder, my friends.

As long as the brain continues to get oxygen (and has an outlet for waste), a beating heart is not necessary.

You think he'd have the decency to clean her off afterward. Didn't they have a hand shower? When my longhaired dog has diarrhea we stand him on the tub and hose his rear end off, so I know it can be done.
