I saw this in a compilation of Russian dash cam videos yesterday. Now I don't know what to believe.

Never tailgate it's annoying, but if you are being tailgated then you might be going too slow, even if you're doing the speed limit.

Think of it like this, the speed limit is government enforced guidelines to keep the roads safe when the worst drivers are out there in the worst cars. It's perfectly safe to drive at whatever you like, provided you and your car can handle it. So get out of my way, I'm more important than you, and the gym won't wait.

A nonthreatening asian man will stand in front of you car?

Ooooh - someone will present an opportunity TO GO AROUND THEM!

Seriously, he had to wait for all that blustering?  This is why I carry my tire iron on the passenger seat.

That is one incredibly stereotypical inscrutable look on that dude's face.

I think it's great that the expression, "YEAH. I DIDN'T THINK SO, YOU PUSSY" comes through regardless of language.

You don't tailgate because of stupid gloves and stupid music, really?

Based on my experience in Taiwan, while tough guy was standing there, 203 cars would have gone blowing by him at 75 mph

Yeah, I don't understand why he waited until he got out into the two-lane area to stop.

In that location, yeah, he was pretty nonthreatening.  But if they had pulled over in a bamboo forest then I would have backed the fark off.  You don't fark with an Asian guy in a bamboo forest.

I can't wait for the sequel to this,

"Texas Tailgating"

The glove wearing dude travels to Texas for a business meeting and rent a car, gets tailgated, pulls that farking stunt on Billy Bob in a 4x4 and hilarity ensues.

Can't wait...

One of my pet peeves includes all the jackasses (usually in pickups or SUV's) who ride 6 inches from your bumper when you have 5 cars in front of you!  What the fark do you want me to do, put out the wings and fly over them?  If you can't go around and there is a line of cars in front of you, please just back the fark off!   Makes me feel homocidal when there is a kid in the back seat!

I agree.  From this clip, the tailgater seems to be the dick - in the clip preceding, he gets cut off by the staremaster.

For a second I thought dashcam guy was retaliating and cut in front also, but then an ambulance passes by so it appears he was just getting out of the way.

"I know!  I'll stop the car behind me where it might get rear ended, and then go to stand directly in front of it!"

In russia, this is where we'd see the baseball bats and hatchets come out.

I just dont understand why people get so upset with tailgating. I mean if the tailgater hits you, they pay you to get your car fixed. And probably some more money for a nice case of whiplash.

I myself treat the speed limit as more of a minimum speed allowable, but if I'm driving 80, and some guy comes up behind me and wants to drive 90, I'll pull right at my earliest chance and let him pass. If this guy wanted to play fast lane police and then get pissed when you want to go faster, then fark him. He can stand their in front of my vehicle like Lo-Pan and I'm just going to Jack Burton right over his ass

The problem is not only when you are in the fast lane but when you have a habitual tailgater who speeds up to get on someone's bumper, get impatient before the car in front can get out of the way, does unsafe lane changes to only speed up to the next car and ride that car's bumper, get impatient before that new car can get out of the way, so on and so forth, until you see this guy almost hit two or three cars due to changing lanes so frequently.

Go the speed of traffic and don't tailgate until you have a good opportunity to pass in a safe manner. That's all I'm saying.

Plus, who wants to go through all the hassle to get money out of insurance to fix a car when there was no need for the accident anyway. I'll rather not get hit and damage my car, thank you very much.

I will tap on my breaks randomly and on purpose to get people to back off.

Keep in mind, you rear-end me b3ecause I hit my break and it's YOUR fault. Your insurance goes up, not mine.

Unless it can be shown that you hit your brakes intentionally, with the knowledge that you'd cause an accident.

You should just pull to the right, and let them pass you.  Trust me, nobody tailgates because they want to stay behind you.  Give them half a chance, and they'll pass you ASAP.

I find you don't even need to brake check. I just tap them lightly so that the brake lights strobe in front of the guy until he gets the message.

LOL! All that was missing was for Staremaster here to slowly, methodically adjust his driving gloves, in preparation for some fisticuffs.

Oh nice, because thats the correct way to diffuse the impatient type-A personality behind you.

Last time a guy brake checked me on purpose like that, I just whipped out the ol iphone and recorded him doing it.

several years ago in my hot tempered days I followed a guy home who did that to me. I backed off right away so he didnt realize I was following him. No violence, just when he got out of his car in his driveway, I said "so this is where the asshole that brake checked me lives" "nice house" then drove off LOL!

When I'm being tailgated and they won't pass me, I usually turn on the windshield sprayers - my truck will give a pretty good spay to to the car behind me.    That actually gets most people to back off.     If that doesn't work, I just take my foot off the gas and move to the right ...  at some point I slow down enough for them to pass.

Instead of getting some money to help pay for treatment of whiplash, I'd prefer not to get whiplash in the first place. And rather than having someone smash up the back end of my car and having their insurance pay for the repairs, I'd prefer that they not hit my car in the first place. You'd have to be brain-dead to not understand why someone would bet upset by a tailgater - they put the health and well-being of a vehicle's passengers, as well as expensive property, at risk. The guy in the video is overreacting, but most people get pissed when someone tailgates them - especially in a situation where they can't move out of the way. But like you, I will pull over to let a tailgater pass.

PsyLord: Taiwan has pretty strict gun control policies.

The police raided the up-scale apartment building my mom was staying in a year ago. This was in downtown Taipei, not in a sketchy area at all. They did the whole "flying through the window, blowing down the wall" stuff and found a mini-arsenal built into a false partition.

So, yeah, you can still get guns. It's just more expensive. The nightly news loves their watermelon cleaver stories though. It'll be a ten minute narrative by some junior crimebeat reporter while the camera fixates on a bloody knife lying on the road for the entire time.

The Taiwanese gangs, much like those in Macau, HK, and Japan, have largely gone legit. Doing business in the country is still a matter of who you know, though. As my uncle says, "After all, this island only has these few people" (it's more pithy in Chinese).
