Rush is a douchebag. He has no pull within the GOP anymore. He is, for all intents and purposes, a useless clown now. No one with any real pull gives a damn what he thinks, and I'm sure that is eating at him pretty badly now. The Blah Man won a second term, and the majority of the country thinks his politics are wrong.

Rush is over, and although he will continue to make a living selling hate to morans, aside from the occasional outrageous statement, no one else is listening. As things are currently going, eventually he'll lose his timeslot on most radio outlets, and be relegated to late-night ramblings where only his most hardcore fans will listen.

Is he saying that he's ashamed to be an American?  Is he looking for an excuse to go to the Dominican for a good spanking?

A bare assed Rush over someone's knee, getting spanked.  You now have that mental image.  You are welcome.

Politoc News added that Limbaugh thinks nothing will "ever change" under Obama, and that he is using "fear" to get the public to do what he wants in the presidency.

which is strange because Rush was just fine with using fear to motivate the freepers and dittoheads for his petty personal and political goals.  I guess it's only ok when he does it.

*sigh*

well, what can I say?  Limbaugh is feeling the heat.  he's costing his bosses a ton of money and not raking in the big bucks like he used too.  his audience is shrinking, his influence is on the wane.  he's becoming actively toxic to the GOP image (as if that wasn't already the case).  Limbaugh's industry is being replaced by podcasts and blogs and news aggregator sites.  so he's desperate to remain relevant...but he can't be seen to look desperate.  so what to do?  make stupid statements.  but of course, most everyone ignores him now...so his stupid statements have to be REALLY stupid.  mind boggling stupid.  he's gotta up the ante just to get noticed by mainstream news organizations anymore.  every time he does or says something stupid, he's gotta top his previous stupidity just to get noticed.  And you can only do that so many times before everyone just stops paying attention to him no matter WHAT he says.

i'm sure that when the end of Limbaugh's show comes, he'll still be rich.  he'll still have his mansion, he'll write books, give speeches.  But it's not about the money...for him its about the attention.  the lack of attention, of influence...it'll kill him slow.  that's what Limbaugh fears most, and it's what's driving his insanity right now.

I could see this being the case.  the GOP insiders having no respect for Limbaugh, who just use him as a propaganda bit player who's occasionally useful as a sock puppet.  I wonder how they treat him when behind closed doors?  do they openly mock him?  do they make him spit shine their shoes?  I'll bet they find some way to mock and degrade the man, make him crawl or demean him in some way.  My impression of man GOP elites is that they're very 'alpha dog' personality types, they need to establish some sort of dominance over the pack or they can't function.

he's slowly sliding into obscurity and irrelevance.  it took him decades to reach the top of talk radio, so it'll take him time to fall all the way down to the bottom.  my advice?  enjoy the show.  Rush knows he's losing his influence and it's driving him bonkers.

"Do you really think 800,000 people are gonna lose their jobs in the Pentagon because we cut $22 billion?  Do you really think air traffic control's gonna shut down?  Do you really think there aren't gonna be any meat inspectors?  Do you really think that all of these horror stories are going to happen?  I don't."
We're still gonna spend $3.5 trillion.  We're just not gonna spend $22 billion, if it happens.

Look, he's got a point.  All the fear-mongering is just political posturing.  The amount of cuts for 2013 is $22B on defense, $22B on non-defense.  We are still going to be spending more in 2013 than we did in 2012 on the programs that are supposedly being cut due to the sequester.  The state-run media isn't reporting these facts.  That $1.2T figure is over ten years.  You really don't think we can come to a deal in 10 years?

Its embarrassing that the media think they can get away with it.

People do realize our federal government is still going to spend $3.5 trillion this year.  Surely, we can find money for meat inspectors and air traffic controllers somewhere in there.  $3.5 TRILLION just in 2013.

we could buy a couple/few less fighter jets and then close some corporate tax loopholes.  that'd fund the entire unemployment program for 5 years all on it's own.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any record of him saying it before, so, maybe he has never said it, but, in his almost 30 years of broadcasting, and all of the things he claims to get offended by, I find it hard to believe this is the "first" time he's said he's felt ashamed of America.

Hopefully someone else can find a prior time.

Why do conservatives hate America and its recent successes, after they cheered for policies that almost sank the economy and resulted in the deaths of thousands of American servicemen and women, so very much?

It sounds an awful lot like Rush Limbaugh isn't too terribly proud of his country right now, either, because it didn't do what he wanted.

The ONLY one...?

"The right policy would be to forget about the whole thing. America doesn't face a deficit crisis, nor will it face such a crisis anytime soon... So here we go. The good news is that compared with our last two self-inflicted crises, the sequester is relatively small potatoes." -- Paul Krugman, 'Sequester Of Fools", New York Times, posted today.

Rush was interesting because he had shock appeal and his hateful speech was bizarre and titillating.  He stood apart from the masses. If he's right it will be by accident.  This is not a well-thought out economic argument he's making, even if it happens to turn out to be correct.  This is Rush selling himself by saying whatever it takes.

I will not argue the merits of an argument offered by Limbaugh.  It gives him credibility he does not deserve, and is the fist step on the path to Hell.

if/when Limbaugh finally goes under, it won't be a single issue that nails his hide to the wall, it'll be a combination of factors: changing demographics, technological shifts making his chosen medium obsolete, collapse of clear channel, his own statements costing him political and economic influence...it'll be a lot of little things that destroy his grip on talk radio.

I do know that the whole Sandra Fluke incident cost him advertisers tho, and quite a lot of them haven't come back.

NeverDrunk23: What is even worse is that it is a good chance his off air private stances are the exact opposite of what he spews.

Exact opposite, I don't think so.  To some degree Rush is a on-air persona selling a product, I don't think the real man believes in all the extremities he puts forth on the radio but he probably is conservative in real life.  He just turns it up to 11 for the show.

Coulter is the one who doesn't believe a word she says, its purely for the money.  I don't think she *has* a belief system outside of making cash.

Now Hannity, there is a man who 100% believes all the stuff he says.  He is too dumb to be faking.

I remember when the liberal media was saying how horrible unemployment over 6% was.  So, that's pretty bad.  Gas prices are at record levels, especially when you seasonally adjust prices.

...and in such an environment the GOP *still* can't win an election....which says quite a lot about just how BAD the Republicans really are these days.
