You had to know it wasn't superfudge. That was the sequel to tales of a 4th grade nothing. Why would they start with a sequel?

Coincidentally, Luke acted like a young lady who was menstruating all throughout that film.

um ..Star Wars was not initially released as Episode 4, moron. That was added later.

It was released as Star Wars.

Wasn't Selena Gomez in an adaptation of one of the Ramona books a couple of years ago?  I seem to remember walking past a cut out for it in a movie theater while on my way to see something equally unworthy of my time and money.

Those books are by Beverly Cleary.  I made the same mistake myself.

Maybe, but "Episode IV" has been in the opening crawl since 1981.  But I bow to your knowledge of Star Wars there, supergenius.  Are you always such a dick?

...I don't get what would be wrong with a movie version of "Are You There, God, It's Me, Margaret" ...

That Hello God book was completely unreadable (and I read 2-3 books / week at that age).

So...if you add a few words that indicate that the movie you released 4 years earlier is a sequel, then that's the same as "starting with a sequel" ?

Here's a better example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cremaster_Cycle

Oh, I pretty much knew it wouldn't be Superfudge. But that one was a personal favorite as a kid.

Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing would make a good movie.

Did you know they did a tv show? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fudge_%28TV_series%29

I can't vouch for how good or faithful it may have been, as I only vaguely remember watching it, and cannot recall if I even read the books.

I'm well past the age (and gender) for seeing a Ramona & Beezus movie, but I'd definitely watch it if it included this scene.

Mr Quimby: Dorothy?
Mrs Quimby: Yes, Bob?
Mr: Quimby: I gotta ask you something. It's been bothering me.
Mrs Quimby: What is it, dear?
Mr Quimby: It's about Beatrice.
Mrs Quimby: What about her? Is she alright?
Mr Quimby: Oh, she's fine. It's also that she's also...oh, how do I say this...also...very Latina.
Mrs Quimby: I'm not sure what you're getting at.
Mr Quimby: Well, you see....I'm white. You're white. Ramona is white. Beatrice is more....well...Mexican. Kinda like those workers we hired to rebuild the garage nine months before she was born.
Mrs Quimby: ....
Mr Quimby: ....
Mrs Quimby: ....

Mr Quimby: You whore!

I was astounded to find out that people wanted to ban her books from schools. I read them all in fourth-fifth grade. I learned a lot about Jews, menstruation, integration, wet dreams and fat kids.

I could have mentioned the Da Vinci code, but that would have just made people furious because it was not necessarily a sequel, just featured the same protagonist.

The movie Manhunter was based on the first one. It wasn't too popular, and Hopkins did not play Lecter, but it came out before SotL.

(See, Perlin Noise and Madbassist1? That's how you provide correct information without being an absolute douchebag.)

OK... I think it was related to a gender and women's studies class I took. The book was on the syllabus. Not sure if I read it or not...

Yes, the book is there to help girls through that strange time in their lives when their syllabus starts leaking once a month.
