If this comic was about Spider-Woman, we would have the tumblr activists feminazis and the white knights saying this is blatant sexist exploitation of the female shape because this cover features her ass front and center.

If this comic was about Spider-Woman, the cover would have sold for 30 bucks, and no one would have read it in the first place.

Wow cool. I read an article once where some guy interviewed Steve Ditko, the original Spider-man artist. Apparently the dude went a little crazy over the years, and when the interviewer was at his house he was using original spider-man pages that he had drawn to do things like clean brushes for new art projects he was working on.

It's still the Brooklyn Bridge. I mean, I could call it James, it would still be the Brooklyn Bridge.

It'll get tossed off the bridge, but the owner will catch it at the last minute - only to find the page was torn as he grabbed it.

Really?

Ditko's artwork was kind of shiatty... or at least stylized to the point of ugliness.

Now Jazzy John? He was a damn good artist.

/His son was a good artist until he went down the stylized, Ditko "chins that could cut glass" path.

Ironically, while John Romita drew the cover, he didn't pencil this historic story. The penciling honors fell to Gil Kane.

By that time, Jazzy John  was Marvel's art director, pumping out plenty of covers but no real interior work.

But, hell, a John Romita cover is better than nothing.

In the UK there was a documentary called "Finding Steve Ditko" which detailed SD's involvement in the early days of Spider Man. The guy is so coo-coo for Ayn Rand Puffs that he holds little monetary value on the originals he drew, thinking that he should only be paid once for his art and anything more after that is unethical. One story has it that he had sliced up all of his old Spider Man originals for use as disposable guide markers in drawing new pages.

This complaint always annoys me. The same women who complain about this artistic trend usually also buy women's magazines that feature hundreds of ads with women doing their best to show tits and ass, as well as ads and articles filled with pictures of half-naked hot guys flexing their abs.

Oh, yeah, and let us not forget the romance novels, on which every man has to have his shirt off, showing off his remarkably muscled body, and where they often skip showing the whole man just to show his naked midsection... No, that's not sexist. Not at all.

...And they have the nerve to complain about comics and other art objectifying women? If this isn't objectifying men (and making them live up to a ridiculous standard), I don't know what is.

I'll worry about seeing Spider-Woman's hand-drawn ass facing the camera when I start seeing novels and magazines aimed at female readers with fewer beefcake guys in their underwear.

Well, it IS a guy's ass, after all. We don't have perfect globes. We generally have sorta-flat, muscular glutes. The bubble butt thing is not considered attractive on a male body.

Just because men aren't objectified in exactly the same manner as women doesn't mean they aren't still being objectified.

Nope, that's one of the most idiotic things out there and clearly exaggerated since Black Widow is NOT acting like any of the men are acting in the reverse version. Thank you for trying, but you lose.

LOL why do you guys always have to use this bullshiat manipulative loaded language? "shapeless mass" is the most unattractive way to refer to an ass and you're doing that to influence the answer people will give because "shapeless mass" sounds disgusting. Spider-Man's ass there is not a "shapeless mass", it has the shape of a male ass.

Based on your posts in this thread, I'm guessing you're a hetrosexual male who has no idea what is and isn't sexy about the male form.
