One time my little brother pulled this, without not quite this much fanfare.  We used to live right behind the church my dad was an associate minister at and one day they were having a rummage sale.  During all the commotion, my fore year old bro vanished.  Police were called and the first thing they did was toss our house before searching the neighborhood.  They asked about one of the church buildings, but it was locked and we figured he wouldn't be able to get in.  After awhile my dad unlocked that building to find a chair right behind the door.  The booger locked the door and had spent the prior two hours playing in the kids room.

When my mom was five, she rolled out of bed in the middle of the night and somehow ended up curled up under her bed. Needless to say, Grandma went in to wake her up the next morning and she was nowhere to be found. A search ensued that involved the police, neighbors, everyone. Finally, my mom wakes up and comes out of her room, rubbing her eyes, wondering why all these people were in her house.

They're called "LoveSacs" now, and they're horrendously overpriced...

I did the same (rolling out and under bed) when I was about 5 too. Only kicker: My 'rents did at one point consider calling emergency services, because my head got lodged somehow under the bed frame (why it didn't occur to either of them to just pick the bed up, I'll never know).

If you don't know where your 5-year-old is then you're not a good parent.  Pay attention dipshiats.

Apparently, you don't know what a 5-year-old is.

We must never forget that day. Remember it, back then. The day. Which ever one it was that the boy was in the balloon. I haven't forgotten where I was on that day.

No shiat. Remember when our parents demanded we disappear for the day? Come home for dinner otherwise they didn't even want to see us. And it was beautiful.

One of our girls disappeared too. Tossed the house twice and searched the 'hood before calling the cops. Found her asleep in a half full laundry basket on the back porch, she had pulled a towel over herself to make it darker.

Exact same thing happened in my condo complex last summer.  Only it was a 2 year old missing...and the dad was asleep on the couch while she (potentially) wandered out the front door.  After about 2 hours of searching with multiple police, helicopters, and the entire complex on foot, she was found sleeping under the covers on the top bunk of her sister's bed.

Scared the shiat out of a lot of people...

Wow I want to move to this place that puts out 12 officers, SAR dogs, and a helicopter when a kid is missing for an hour.

Don't get me wrong, if I had kids and couldn't find them I would be freaking out too. When we call the police and say the people who everyone suspects have been breaking into homes are wandering around down the street they don't even call us back until the next day.

The kids was found under a beanbag? Was the SAR dog sitting on him?

I'd bet on it. Dogs and kids: They know where the comfy sleeping spots are.

I did this once, when I was a kid and my parents went out and left me with a babysitter. I thought my bedroom closet would make a cool fort, so I holed up in there and fell asleep. I woke up to screams of "Where IS he?!!?"

R. Kelly later wrote a really cool song about it.

That is only for adults, children are priority one.  Remember, life has training wheels until you are old enough to face Darwin,s test on your own.

So did you finally come out of the closet?

That's when you went out and learned all the good shiat about life. Before farking video games sucked kids brains out.

My two year old did this. She was in a teeny little nook behind the headboard of my bed with a blanket and a pillow, fast asleep. I knew she had to be in the house - the windows were locked and I was watching TV on the couch in full view of the stairwell and door. She couldn't have gotten past me. Still, she was NOWHERE and I was freaking. I had the phone in my hand and had just hit the 9 when I found her.

News worthy only for white kids of course
