50 years old, bank accounts that accrue more than $1,600 in interest a day, and former career that proves he shouldn't play the game, and you think he will take the effort.  I wonder if Jordan asked his lawyer about the possibility of suing for using his name without permission.  It would be a pointless lawsuit, but the only reason for the offer is to get noticed.  I made a point not to remember the name of the team, so they failed.

/it is silly to offer the $20 meal money
//now for a young guy who can't make the show, I could see being a good gig, but you'll need an off-season job

In other news their marketing plan worked by getting them a green light on Fark.com.

The Slammers, who used to be known as the Joliet Jackhammers (named for the city's declining steel industry), 90% of minor league teams, are a franchise known for pulling publicity stunts like this.

In marketing, they say it's not the number of people you attract, but the percentage of a demographic. But, goddamn, they do know that only 5 people on fark follows the NBA?

I guess next time they'll offer a contract to Jeremy Roenick.

Still think the team should have been named the Joliet Jakes.

In other news, there's a Michal Jordan playing pro hockey. He's currently up with the Hurricanes, but he's a prospect who's been playing in the AHL recently. In Charlotte. In the Time Warner Cable Arena, where the Micheal Jordan owned Bobcats play.

Michael Jordon on the Toilet Slammers?  How appropriate.
Oh, the Joliet Slammers?  Never mind.

Damn straight. The PGA made it through Phoenix, and NASCAR's rolling at Daytona. Sports are back!

I wish he'd suit up for his own team so people would care about them for a minute.

No. Minor leagues are considered "professional". Nice try. Now, go back to bed.

I couldn't get tickets to see Jordan play in the Southern League.  I DID get to see Bo Jackson when he was playing for the Barons in 1992.  He took BP before a game against the Mudcats.  They said our local stadium hadn't been that full since Ted Williams and Harmon Killebrew had an off-season home run derby in the 60s.

Is Michael Jordan's birthday over yet?  It seems like it's been his birthday for a month now.

I feel extra bad for Charles Barkley, who not only got denied that one chance at a title by Jordan, but whose birthday is three days after Jordan, so every time this sh*t comes up, it's at least a week of praise for Jordan while everyone ignores Barkley.

Wait. Bo Jackson betted on NBA games, too?!

If they want him to play for them they should just bet him $20 he wouldn't and he would jump at that
