No, subby.  Sadly we cannot.  There are those in this country that will steadfastly state that anything done by any Obama is bad for America and is the wrong this to do.

There are bills and plans created by Republicans that they now criticize because Obama has agreed with them.

There was Bush Derangement Syndrome, and it was a real thing, but the level these farking parasites have taken Obama Derangement Syndrome to makes BDS look like a simple disagreement with policy.

Look, if I can't sell mobility scooters to school districts across the nation, my family will starve, subby. This is just more government interference.

AdolfOliverPanties: There was Bush Derangement Syndrome, and it was a real thing,

I remember feeling like I was going out of my farking mind when the country actually decided to re-elect the guy who conned us into the pointless quagmire of Iraq, and then managed to botch the invasion.

So, yeah, I guess I was a BDS sufferer.

FTA:

Though obesity is now part of the national conversation, with aggressive advertising campaigns in major cities and a push by Michelle Obama, many scientists doubt that anti-obesity programs actually work. Individual efforts like one-time exercise programs have rarely produced results.

Subby, the part that Freepers are going to quote is right there in the article.

"Why is the Left taking credit for the declining obesity rate when it's more likely because children are starving under Dictator ObaMao? Also her butt!"

Rev.K: I'm pretty heavily invested in Big Fat and Big Sugar, so this is really crippling my portfolio.

Aren't Big Fat and Big Sugar having some sort of hip-hop feud?

Pretty sure Republicans are utterly furious about that.

As much as I vehemently disagree with some of Obama's policies, I actually think the Obamas are good people.

I think it's too early to say whether her program has had any positive effect or not, but it is certainly a good goal.

Absolutely, I'm not knocking it. It's a great cause. I just don't think you can declare a success or failure just yet. Not the kind of thing that gives instant results. We may not know for a generation what the result has been, and even then it's hard to directly ascribe it to one particular program, person, etc.

But yeah, good on her for trying, absolutely.

Laura Bush tried to get people to read books and Michelle Obama is trying to get people to read nutrition labels. I don't see how any rational human being could oppose either one of these goals.

I would keep my eyes on Montgomery. If this is going to happen (and it wouldn't surprise me)... it'll start in Alabama.

Why hasn't anyone posted that hilarious cartoon yet?

I am a big Michelle Obama fan and support her campaign to fight obesity among children but I think it's a stretch to say her efforts definitely improved lowering the obesity in children. I wish they would have said it in less black and white terms that they did.

I believe in small government and I am not going to listen to them about what to feed my kid.

Sarah Palin asked us to give our kids sugar cookies. I give them sugar cookies.

I don't listen to anyone.

One of the most stark differences between liberals and "conservatives" is in how the First Ladies are treated. Many liberals hated Bush, and many took the hatred to absurd levels, but I don't recall any widespread hatred of Laura, other than the occasional "she killed a guy" jokes. Same goes for Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush. They were largely treated with class and dignity despite any disagreemants with their husbands' policies. Contrast that with how the right treated Hillary Clinton and especially now with Michelle. It is one of the more repugnant aspects of the modern right wing.

"You don't change horses in mid-stream", or something. There was also a heavy dash of "What kind of message does it send to the terrorists if we don't re-elect George W. Bush?"

Not that I disagree with your point, just wondering what Mrs. Clinton's case would be:

"If you don't blow it, someone else will." "No, we can blow ourselves".

And to be fair to liberals, Laura Bush did, in fact, kill a guy.

Maybe it isn't because of her policies, but because her husband's policies are tanking the economy and everybody is ABOUT TO STARVE TO DEATH because the job creators don't have enough wealth to trickle any down on the rest of us.
It's hard to get fat when you can't buy food anymore.

That's not true. We hated Nancy Reagan, because she was a biatch. But yeah the other 2 were fine.

This is what Socialism does to us! It starves our children! I demand that American children are able to eat as much as they normally would, plus the food that could go towards starving children in other countries. American exceptionalism in everything, obesity included!

I don't see how people can call for "smaller government", fear government tyrrany and cry tears of utter desolation of you think about cutting a even a nickel of a military budget ... but they do.

"Thanks to these efforts ... the national childhood obesity rate has leveled off, and even declined in some cities and states,"

When you hit 100% in your state the upward growth is going to level off.  When little fatties die from diabetes in your state you tend to see a decline.

FTFA:

," the Department of Health and Humans Services admitted that "[f]or children, there is no precise widely accepted definition of obesity in terms of body fatness."

and this gem....

48 percent reported having lost weight because they did not have enough money for food,"
