*snicker* Trying to pretend you're asking a question on a search engine, instead of realizing that no computer really "understands" the English language, is hip and cool?   I always picture octogenarians typing out a question on that search engine because they don't know how to put in keywords in a real search engine.

-"stupid things" awesomeness "Captain Kirk"

/I used AltaVista before it was cool...

I remember a time, very long ago, when Yahoo was king.

Heard about Google while watching The Screen Savers or maybe Call For Help.

Funny, I remember Webcrawler, Lycos, & Alta Vista, but I can't seem to remember the search engine I used before those. Does senility qualify me for hipsterdom?
Ironically, I do remember dialing up the Delphi & CompuServe servers at 300 baud back when long distance calls were ridiculously expensive. Painful experiences must be more vivid.

You ought to try Google Meditate©.  All you have to do is think about a question and the answer arrives to you via the universe.

It's funny just how often I use Google to connect the dots from my brain synapses to something I can't quite remember.  (Remembering an actor's name, spelling a word, etc.)

It won't be long before we just store all of that useless static information on the Internet, and then some brain device can map those synapses to those items on the Internet.  Searching by thinking.  Use the Internet as the mass storage device and leave more room in your brain for other things.

Of course, that's pretty much the 2nd season of GitS:SAC...

No love for Excite? Or AltaVista?

That's where I found my HPC sites back in the day.

I found out that dogpile and dogpound were not the same site in high school. That's also when I found out my school didn't have a filter.
