Not necessarily. If the Tea party wins then it's only a matter of time before they win an election. People vote Republican/Democrat like people supporting a football team. They care not for policies, just the badge. Tea Partiers are crazy.

That's why I'm hoping for. There will be Tea Party in government, but the vast majority of moderates in this country will side with Democrats just because they have enough of a conscious to realize how bat shiat crazy the Tea Party is

/then I shall raise the Republican Party back from the ashes to be that liberal, small government party of old

Please, look at Floriduh for real life examples of the tea party at its finest. Watching Allen West lose his seat, Alan Greyson get re-elected, and watching Rick 'Skeletor' Scott caving to Obamacare to try to keep his polling from negative digits, there may just be hops yet.

West losing was my favorite part of the Election day aftermath. Grayson was just icing on the cake.

The Tea Party is still becoming a formidable force, if only because they seem to be equal to the establishment rivals now.

I'm considered by many to be fairly left-leaning, but in actuality, back in the day I'd have been a perfect fit for Goldwater's demographic. We no longer have a serious liberal party. We have the center-right (D), the right (R), and far right (TP).

Oh I know. I'd probably back goldwater, or Wallace. (Henry Wallace. FDR's second VP, would've been president if the party bosses didn't hate his liberalism)

I want to see Rove and the tea baggers rip each other apart.  I want to see blood, dammit!  I want 'em to prove which is the TRUE leader of the GOP, with fire and dark sorcery, invoking powers best avoided.  I want to see them lose whatever is left of their dignity so that there is absolutely no doubt left anywhere what the Republican party is willing to do in order to win, even to themselves.

not a major election (ie POTUS) I think the tea baggers just split the Republican vote. which helps the dems.
That is until those cheating, lying assholes changes the laws so that it's dems vs (Repubs + tea baggers)
and if the dems win, they win. but if the TEa baggers + repubs have more votes, whoever has more votes between repub and tea baggers wins.
I wouldn't put it past them

Most of that was about an article by Gingrich, who is not a teabagger, just a washed-up, opportunistic, and most importantly, thoroughly-discredited crocodile hoping to grab one last gnu and drag it into the river.  Gingrich cares about nothing except Gingrich.

It was people like Gingrich who created the toxic political environment that allowed pond scum like Rove to flourish.  Not the other way around.

I wish I shared your optimism about the American people realizing how batshiat crazy the Tea Partiers are, but without a viable alternative around I do not. If the Tea Partiers fully engulf the Republican party in their Derpsploitation field they will be treated as equals of the Democrats, and gain more credibility in the electorate than they deserve - and more than is healthy for the country for sure.

Just look at the false equivalency afforded to Republicans already... Journalists are generally afraid of being accused of being shills, or discredited as being partisan so in most mainstream stories and interviews you see Republicans routinely presented as having equivalent opposing views even though the shiat coming out of their mouths is too often complete derp. Just watch cable news for a while and you'll see what I mean. "Teach the controversy".

The center will be shifted even further right and crazy, discredited, ideas will be presented as rational, reasonable alternatives of roughly equivalent value.

That's not blood, dude. You're smelling a rotting corpse.  There was blood in the water last summer and fall while the GOP presidential bid was falling apart.  Blood stopped flowing in November.  Enjoy picking the dead body, you disease-ridden vultures.

Oh come on man, that's an INCREDIBLY unfair comparison.

Vultures serve an important role in the ecosystem. Plus, they're generally pretty disease free, I think? (That's the purpose of the bald heads: No feathers for parasites and disease to easily hide in)

Really, the Tea Party just has some modest proposals.

So give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff!
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough.
So give them blood, blood, blood.

RMoney was the safe Republican pick and he still lost. Republicans have only two viable paths forward. They can become more pragmatic and moderate and choose a guy like Chris Christie for 2016. Or they can go with a guy like Rand Paul.

You put too much thought into this.  It's much simpler.  The "mainstream media" is owned by major media conglomerates which themselves are owned by a collection of hilariously rich individuals.  Their marching orders are to support whichever party better affords their lifestyle, which trickles down as "do not, under any circumstances, criticize the GOP without affording an exactly equivalent criticism of the DNC".  This is the real trickle-down theory in action, where the currency is belief systems and thought patterns rather than actual money.  The rich pay handsomely to manipulate public perception, and the journalists do their bidding because the vast majority of the market share is divided among "MSM".

It has absolutely nothing to do with being criticized as a shill or partisan or whatever.  It's simply wealthy people making sure their investments are protected, and damn the little man.
