Are you sure it wasn't just in the original game? I'd swear I saw that when we played it at school on the apple ][. I suppose the school COULD have pirated it, but that seems unlikely. Disk looked original.

Tombstone Pizza had an ad campaign in which characters were threatened with imminent danger, and asked "What do you want on your Tombstone?"   Example  Another example

If you lost the video game Oregon Trail, the game asked what you wanted on your tombstone.

A pirated copy? It was part of the game. I remember playing it at my school in the late 80s. Or are you telling me that schools knew where to buy pirated copies of 5 inch floppies?

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure.  Also, it would not surprise me at all for a school in the '80s to have used exclusively pirated software.

WSUCanuck: Or are you telling me that schools knew where to buy pirated copies of 5 inch floppies?

Yup every Flea market used to have a table selling pirated software on floppy disks.  Often the school would just provide the computer and the teacher would have to come up with software out of their own pocket.

Tombstone that you buy in the store is just a name.  The original Tombstone prior to Kraft buying it (now Nestle) is a completely different pizza.

Probably 10 years ago (maybe) Pep Simek started his own frozen pizza company again.  This is fairly close to the original.  My favorite frozen pizza, hard to find even in Wisconsin.

Well, it was (and still is) a poor district. The apple ]['s we had were already somewhat obsolete in 1988-ish, yet inexplicably in middle school we had even OLDER TRS-80s, though we also had some Macintoshes. I don't know how it worked back then, if they even had a budget for games or if the teacher just brought them in from home. We only had one disk of the game if I remember right.

aldi for the win!

the little personal pan pizzas...we have to quit buying those because we go thru them too quickly (12 year old daughter has times of insatiable appetite...no she's not fat)...about $1 or so cheaper than an equivelent brand-name (tombstone or red barron or whatever) at walmart

they aren't GREAT but for a quick meal they are really good, and inexpensive

What few people remember was in the 1980s software piracy was accepted and expected.  Microsoft caught a lot of crap for running full page ads in every PC magazine calling everybody who used copied software thieves.
