Hey you f*cking cheaters, you used the power of "win one for Tony before he retires" to get your goddamn playoff win last year, you don't get to pull him back now.

So you're a Hawks fan?

Much better priority than an actual pass rusher or the rest of the D line.

Of course. Unfortunately for the Falcons, Ray Lewis was way more emphatic about it being his last season and made much more of a spectacle of it, so he got all the mojo.

I think that the Falcons undersold the "win for Tony" thing, and God decided that they were just talking about a playoff win, since Tony G had never gotten one of those before.

/not serious, but watch everyone act as though I am and that it's proof of Seahawks fans being whiners

Help me out here. What's the Viking reference?

Also - why is Atlanta "cheaters?"

For the 2010 season, 3 Vikings players went to Brett Favre's house and begged him to come back and play 1 more season.  The Falcons are going to do the same for Tony G.

It's a joke; a reference to the power of the narrative in sports journalism, that the Ravens' whole postseason was about winning to send Ray Lewis out with another title. The Falcons (or their press, or maybe even just ESPN) decided to start talking about Gonzalez leaving after the season right before the playoff game to net some of that motivation, which OBVIOUSLY propelled them to the win over the Seahawks (because the Seahawks didn't have anyone that was retiring, so they didn't get that boost. Stupid young team!)

It's cheating to harness that power boost if the guys isn't ACTUALLY retiring.

/at least I think that's how it would work
//Bill Simmons discusses the power of the "win one for..." in his columns a lot, so you might want to ask him for further clarification on how it's supposed to work

the Falcons have the talent to go deep into the postseason

I am a long-time, die-hard Falcon's fan, and even I can't take this seriously. Since the beginning of the Matt Ryan/Mike Smith era, the Falcons are 1 and 6 in the postseason. I'm not impressed. You want people to stop calling you "choke artists"? Win when it counts...

Plz let Tony G retire.  Man is scary.  Matty without his binky is not.

And I call Tony G a binky with as much respect and fear as possible that a fan of a rival team can muster, lol.
