What's missing is a requirement to inform staff that you're carrying a concealed weapon.  Failure to do so should result in revocation of your CCW permit.

2013-02-21 03:31:26 AM
Why would you go into a bar, armed, and choose not to drink?  That seems the mentality just looking to pick a fight.  Stay home and watch wrasslin.

2013-02-21 07:11:07 AM
But in order to protect patrons, liquor in bars must still be sold in mini-bottles and all bars must close promptly at midnight.

South Carolina - 'tis a silly place.

Not quite as pythony, but a little better.

farking hell, even in the fictionalized manly Old West you had to check your guns at the door of the saloon. These primitives are going to bring back street duels if we elect another Democrat.

It's sad that some people can't be away from their weapon for the length of time it would take to have dinner.

WAAAA, I need my binky...

In the real old west, you had to check them first thing upon entering the town.

If the intent is to have a weapon as a deterrent, why bother concealing?

2013-02-21 07:24:19 AM
I foresee absolutely no negative side effects from this policy. Hell, drunk CCW carriers killing each other would be a great side effect!

2013-02-21 07:26:22 AM
Seems that some people cling to their firearms alot.

And you could say bitterly as well.

2013-02-21 07:26:59 AM
Also every bar must have a guy with a handlebar mustache and sleeve garters playing a piano who stops whenever any man over 5'9" enters.

Yeah, that'll work out just swell...

Sean Bennett, the bill's sponsor, said he was prompted to make the bill after people told him it wasn't fair they couldn't bring their concealed weapons to restaurants that serve alcohol.

This country is farking hilarious.

Oh great, now Kansas is going to have to outlaw antibiotics or something to make sure they're not voted off the "America's Stupidest States" competition.

Don't worry. Soon we'll have no income tax and a 20% sales tax to compensate.

Why shouldn't I be allowed to take my guns into a bar? If you think about it, that's one of the places where some jackass is most likely to try and pick a fight with me - and then they'll be sorry!

...These southern states passing "guns in X" bills...were guns outlawed in churches and bars before these bills? or are these just more grandstanding efforts to pander to their ignorant base?

I know you are joking (at least I hope you are), but there are people that really feel this way. When you think that everyone who gets in your face deserves to die, you have a serious mental disorder.

There is no law stopping you from carrying a gun in a bar in PA. We don't have an epidemic of drunks shooting up bars. Neither will SC.

We have open poor now. I don't stay up till 12 so can't tell you about that.

Umm VA has had this for a while....and no massacres at bars. Soooooo, I dunno, cry more?

Otherwise Just Fine: We have open poor now.

That's why the blue states have to give SC some of their money every year, right?

2013-02-21 08:13:34 AM
about 20-25 years ago, there was a bar in Killeen, Texas that had skeet shooting out back on Sundays.

2013-02-21 08:14:01 AM
Ohio also has a similar law.  It's no big deal.

A few other states allow CCW in places that have a liquor license. What's the big deal?

This is South Carolina we're talking about here. It's like Mos Eisley, only with more scum and villainy.

A few? I cant look it up at the moment but I think something like 40 states allow CCW in bars.

Wait until the scared of everything crowd finds out the fuel pump in their gas tank is electric....

More drunken armed red necks? I am ok with this.

Lol... So, in about a year when you keel over from a massive heart attack or die in a tragic BBQ accident?

Thankfully, there'll probably be a nice coating of butter on your fingers so the prying won't be too difficult.

good.  as a  south carolinian who will be getting his cwp this spring, i felt it was kinda dumb that i couldn't take it into a restaurant.  i don't go to bars.

Well I underestimated. Considering I live in Illinois, it's no wonder I'm out of the loop on CCW. I hate Illinois.

Yes.  Guns were outlawed in a lot of public places as part of the old Jim Crow laws to disarm the black population.

http://www.georgiacarry.org/cms/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/racist-ro ot s-of-ga-gun-laws.pdf

It's an interesting read, though I haven't attempted to cross-reference any of it.

Also, Memphis has better BBQ than South Carolina or anywhere else in the country.

Would they still not be? Also, I like how your moving goal posts just to say that other people will move goal posts one day.

And yet: South Carolina only allows tiny, airport sized bottles in bars.

I look forward to reading about red necks shooting each other at a bar in South Carolina from the safety of my home in Wisconsin. Have fun guys.
