Break out the orange golf balls, shovel off the greens and get back to earning those millions.

Worth the visit.

it is farking cold, for arizona.  snow level is 3000 feet.  i know, boston, nyc, etc., "LOL that ain't shiat" but it would be like you guys getting 140 degrees in April.

it is cool as shiat.  my mom called to say the mountains have whitecaps.  my bil sent pics from tucson, of his car with about 2-3 inches of snow.  good shiat.

Wonder what it's like on Kitt Peak.

I hope they would just get back to play with the snow on the ground.  It will make golf actually entertaining for once.

/I wonder if making snowangels after a great putt would count as tampering with the turf
//I want an answer, since I know they take stuff like that serious
///Bonus: the losers get to whitewash the winner.  For the uninformed, whitewashing is smearing snow into the victim's face and down the shirt if possible.

Wait... we got 4 inches of snow here in Northern California yesterday, too. Coincidence?

/seriously, though... it's mostly gone today, so I doubt it will hold things up much

Excellent. Drove from Scottsdale to San Diego today; snow on the peaks of the mountains in the Phoenix area. When I hit the mountains in East SD County, there was snow as low as 2000'. I stopped at the Golden Acorn Casino near Campo for gas and I saw several families posing for pictures holding snowballs. It's like they had never seen the white stuff before.

snow at 2000 ft in the winter is not unheard of, even in the southwest US.

Yeah, but it's still as rare as leap years here in Tucson.

/I took pictures, too.

It wouldn't be the snow that would scare me if I was in AZ moreso than the drivers who have NEVER dealt with snow all of their lives.

Even here in Missouri, our drivers can't handle snow to save our lives and we get it a lot more than Phoenix and Tuscon does.

Last time we got that much snow in Tucson was easter Sunday - - I think it was 1999. I think I was a senior at University of Arizona that year. I didn't see it, though, because I was partying it up in Rocky Point, Mexico. Heard about it after we got back, though.

I live and golf in London, so you pretty much have to play in such conditions

Midtown Tucson is at about 2500' above sea level, so this can happen, but it is rare.  It's typically 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix on average at any rate.  But the weather in Southern AZ has definitely been wacky as of late.  Last month here in Tucson we set a record 17-degree low overnight on a Wednesday.  The pool at my Dad's house froze over, and everyone had blankets/towels on their cactus.  Prickly pears everywhere were dropping paddles like crazy.  A lot of the palm trees here and there are still brown from it.

This was followed the next Tuesday by a record 81-degree daytime high.

Even just two days ago it was officially 70F at Davis-Monthan AFB.  I was at a nearby wrecking yard watching A-10's and F-16's buzz right over my head.  I was in a t-shirt and it was totally pleasant.

We actually got about an inch last night in midtown Tucson but it's more than halfway gone right now as of 3 a.m. local time.  But I'll bet the mountains that surround the city are gonna be gorgeous all day tomorrow!

I was looking for something to do this weekend and this is 45 minutes from where I live!  Woooooooo!

Was working for the U at that point.  A friend from a Midwestern University was observing on Kitt Peak that week and we were supposed to meet for brunch that morning.  He never made it off the mountain.  3 feet of snow made it impossible.

An update:

It took them until 1pm local time to get the course playable again. And then the weekend TV ratings went straight into the toilet as Tiger and Rory both got KOed in round 1.
