baronvonzipper: I don't see the problem. "Hey Joe" is a classic piece of music. And who's this Pistoriusguy? Why should I care?

He's the OJ Simpson of South Africa.

How about "Warp City" by Ministry?

The day the tsunami hit in Asia, a station in Chicago played Learn to Swim by Tool.

Should have played Type O Negative's "Hey Pete" instead.  At least he used an axe instead of a gun.

/Miss you, Peter.  :(

Genju: Nothing beats "Rock You Like a Hurricane" at the Miami/LSU game after Katrina. The difference being they play that at like every game cause they're the damn Miami Hurricanes. When people complained they should have followed it up with "When the Levy Breaks" by Zep.

New Orleans is Sinking by the Hip?

MeanJean: Are there any songs about bludgeoning? Pistorius apparently also bashed her over the head with a cricket bat.

Since the DETECTIVE in the case is now facing attempted murder charges...might want to hold off on any rush to judgment...

they should have played MC Hammer followed by Vanilla Ice followed by MC Hammer

Cruel and unusual. Inflicting Ministry on anyone is simply unnecessary.

"mmm bop" by Hanson

Bill_Wick's_Friend: "Hey Man Nice Shot" also not a good idea.

Want to troll a rock radio station?  Request that song on any anniversary that somebody was assassinated.

Bonus racism points...do it on MLK day.

/terrible person for thinking this
//still listens for it

"What's the frequency Kenneth" by REM could also work in a sense...

If you listen closely, NPR is brilliant at things like this, but they will play an obscure instrumental version of the song so that you have to know what the song is about to get the joke.

BrotherEarth: JungleBoogie: Guns N' Roses: "I used to love her, but I had to kill her."

That probably would have been worse. Or better.

Definitely better.

Or the Beatles ...

Because I used to love her, but it's all over now.

Beatles, Rolling Stones, same difference, amiright?

...and then they tried replacing it with Type O Negative's Hey Peter...

...only to later realize that the recent Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker story had the public especially sensitive to that at well...

qualtrough: What, no love for "Ruby, don't take your love to town"? Handicapped guy shoots SO.

That's what I was going to say.

If I could move, I'd post in this thread and put it in the ground....

Gods sake turn around!

"Boot Hill" by Stevie Ray Vaughn would have been another good choice.

Unrelated to the Pistorius case, apparently he opened fire on a minivan full of civs back in 2011.

Back when the news broke about EgyptAir Flight 990 going down in '99 one of my roommates started playing "Smoke on the Water" on his guitar. We all turned and looked at him and he just had this big evil goofy grin on his face.

/Yeah we laughed even though it was wrong

Though Hertz isn't returning Pistorius' calls.
