That's a shame the money hasn't been returned, and it's probably someone from his neighborhood, too.

I guess we can call the cashier "The goodbye girl"since she was likely fired.

2013-02-20 04:06:52 PM
Yeah, I am pretty sure it was the cashier's friend that scored the dough. Had to be.

Call me jaded, but I bet the lucky customer was an associate of the employee who gave it away and both will be sporting some nice bling in the near future.

I used to work in a sub shop that sold 'special produce' to select customers. The boss would wrap bags of weed in sub rolls and send them out like sandwiches. Needless to say two bags got switched. A short while later one of our regulars brought his sandwich back and said he didn't order a veggie sub, wink wink. He handed me the bag with an ounce of weed in it right as the other customer walked in to return his 'sandwich'. We all had a laugh until I pointed out that we were lucky the neighborhood cops didn't come in for sandwiches that day. That was the day we stopped wrapping weed in sub rolls.

Yep, I'm the dummy that would return the cash. I've been given way too much money for change before and gave it back.

This really kneads to be investigated.  If it was an inside job, the employee may just be a gluten for punishment.

That's a crappy bakery anyway.  I bought a loaf of bread there the other day and ate it right from the bag it came in.  It tasted awful, and was dry and papery.

All I can hear is Bill Cosby's classic bad guy setup line, "Gimme yer dough" from his Karate sketches.

The cash register is the till, subby. The till was not placed in the bag. Money from the till was placed in the bag.

Does anyone miss the days where there were no ads in your news? God I miss newspapers...with online news it's like the put the ads in the first and then have a hole just for the story. Totally backwards if you ask me.

I just read the farkin comments for all my news. Actually find it more insightful than the rubbish being pawned off these days as news stories.

And no ads to deal with.

Fun fact: the space not taken up by advertisements in printed papers is called "the news hole".

For me, it depends on the scenario...pretty sure I wouldn't keep 2 grand from a bakery, but yeah, I've kept the extra money some business or another has mistakenly given me in change...I've also returned it on occasion...ehh, it all evens out in the end.

/why, yes, my morals are quite fluid, thank you

Wow, the stupid tax is $2,000 in Australia?  Seems a bit steep.

As my morals are fluid also, I'm basically honest up to the five figures. Then, who knows.

You may want to (just for giggles) try doing the following:

1. Install Firefox

2. Install AdBlock Plus

3. (optional) Install NoScript

Enjoy ad-free pages and videos. Internet the way Al Gore intended it.

I've twice gotten free items from Lowes without trying.  Once, I realized after looking over a receipt a couple days later that the clerk had missed charging me for an item: A 10x10 roll of linoleum that was sitting in my cart.  Not sure how she missed that.

Later, I was buying piece of a fireplace surround that had four or five components   She kept scanning the shipping UPC and it wouldn't scan, so she moved on.  I pointed out three times she was scanning it incorrectly, but she insisted it was part of the package.  Got that for $70 off.

I'll bet that ruined the bread. I'd take it back for a refund.

Accident huh. Sounds more like a planned switcheroo.
I remember one gas station I worked at. After I left, one of my shady former co-workers was found tied up in the bathroom with the door locked. From the inside.
