Diogenes: Joke's on him.  If he wins, he has to wear it at all times when operating a vehicle.

Or have the silly ass thing on when getting frisked by the friendly TSA representatives. Either way those strainers sure are holey.

Is mocking individual adherents to a religion a thing now?

cgraves67: cfroelic: I don't want to start the same stupid debate from last week, but in New Jersey, they call it a Driver License, and not a Driver's License.  Your state may be different, but in California and New Jersey, it is singular and not possessive.

My Illinois issued card says Driver's License.

Oregon here: "Driver", singular.

Is there a lot of mocking going on in this thread?  Huh.  It's not as bad as I thought, and I didn't think it was anything to be worried about to begin with.

I'd like to see Ohio BMV tell me I can't wear a pasta strainer on my head.  The Secretary of State accepted my $10 and gave me a license to perform marriage under the Church of the FSM, and I married my friends under such, and so far no problems.  I'm gonna walk in with my minister's license and see what happens.

Certainly there is in the linked article.

I don't think it was ever supposed to be funny.

Oh? So, is not supposed to be funny? Sometimes that happens to me; something will be completely serious and I'll think that it's funny.

Example: the movie "Shoot 'em Up". Serious movie, right? I laughed so much that I almost coughed up a lung. The movie was just so ridiculous; as is pastafarianisum, I guess I just figured it was supposed to be funny.

What? A dude gets killed with a carrot. How is that supposed to be serious?

This is not a serious thing.  A serious thing would be if the pastafarians wanted to build a church and sued to get tax exempt status.

The guy did cite religion as the reason for the strainer. You'd think, being a pastafarian, he'd be dressed as a pirate. Or, failing that; have an eye patch.

1) It's serious now?  When did that happen?  Surely not when a couple of people decided to troll the DMV for sh*ts and grins.  (Maybe they were serious, but I don't see that impacting the "movement" as a whole.)
2) No!  NNNNNOOOOO!!!!!  NOT RELENTLESSLY MOCKED!  AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Wa'n't nothin' 'bout no damned 'relentlessly mocked' in the post I was respondin' to, and damn it we all started taking this whole thing too seriously.  Or maybe not.

In any event, I'll save the extra (and bolded!) ly for later, and I thank you for it.  Almost tacked it onto 'seriously' because I thought it'd look neat, but it'll be nice to have a spare.

Every time one of these threads comes up, I remember a comedy monologue I hears somewhere that was about a Baptist church where it split into the still water and the running water and then again into the warm/cold water north running/ south running water and probably again and again, but I can't for the life of me remember who did it or where I heard it. It may have been Dr Demento.

Wisconsin also issues a Driver License.  And in the case of those who cannot take photos or have to obscure their faces the words "NO PHOTO REQUIRED" are entered in the photo box, with the intent of accommodating Amish people who have DL's.  (Yes there are some Amish with driver licneses.)

Pastafarianism or whatever is patently retarded.  I'm not saying the other religions make any sense, but they were stories passed down generation to generation, elder to village to explain their concept of the meaning of life until eventually these stories and rituals created a cohesive form.

The people who created the flying spaghetti monster were just being dicks and made a (rather sad) pastime out of mocking organized religion.
