havocmike: It's going to be so upsetting when it's released and it's not as good as you all hope.. because, Arrested Development is not as great as you remember it being.

I've watched every episode four times.  You're very wrong.

I've got some rather low expectations for it.  It's been a long time for the cast and over the years, actors tend to lose their connection to characters.  That said, the original shows are on Netflix and I've been watching them a few a week and they're just as funny as I remember.

Actually it's better -- there's plenty of foreshadowing jokes you'll only notice on repeat viewings.

If I could I'd put in a picture of buster with his hands to his ears.

Buster (speaking about his hand chair): "Oh, I never knew that I could miss a hand so much!"

well, the series creator is on-board. haven't heard how many original writers came back. apparently michael cera is going to write as well as act. that kinda worries me.

haven't seen wiig outside of SNL, but i don't really care for her. i'll give her the benefit of the doubt, though. if she can follow direction well and not try and put her own "spin" on the character, it could work.

i love AD, but there's no guarantee this new season will be good. the entire format is different and it's been years since the show was cancelled.

I just want my kids back.

/Look, if Mitch H is on board, I'm gonna be optimistic dammit.
//Plus, new writers can skew younger.  With juries and so forth.

Smelly McUgly: Well, that's not it at all. Amy Poehler is funny. Tina Fey is funny. Lucille Ball was funny. Betty White is funny.

Hell, just look at the cast of AD. Jessica Walter - funny. Portia de Rossi - funny. If I didn't think women were funny, I'd hate this show since the women in the cast are such a huge part of it.

Lots of women are funny.

Can't I just find her unfunny because she is really bad at comedy?

Hi, I'm SLITG, and I'm a woman!

And I agree with you.  I've been at best nonplussed and at best annoyed by anything I've seen Wiig in.

That said, I kind of trust AD not to f--k sh-t up.  They're pretty good at integrating guest stars.  I mean, hell, you find Carl Weathers, he needs some work, you get some bones from craft services, Baby, You Got a Stew On!

everybodylookattheirpants: Welcome to Fark, etc., but I never understood the significant amount of Kristen Wiig hate on here.  While I don't think she's the funniest person in the history of funny people, she has really made me laugh hard on several occasions, between her work on SNL and elsewhere.  But then again, surely I'm an idiot and my opinions are wrong and I should feel bad.

This is Fark.

Everybody hates everything.

Ok, I would have never caught onto that one. (currently watching the series on Netflix).

It is a lot better with repeat viewings.  They set up jokes in the first season that don't pay off until the last season.  The writing is so multilayered.  I think that's why I loved the show so much.  The witty, smart layered stories.

I forgot if it was before or after he lost the hand, but there's also a scene where he's sitting on a bench with an ad that says something about Army officers and his body obscures it so it reads "Arm off".

It was literally right before he ran into the ocean and the seal attacked him IIRC.

They did the same thing with Rita Leeds covering a Wee Britain bench advertisement to say "Wee Brain."

Lee's_Austin: Vidwiz: Who cares - My wife had me watch a few episodes of Arrested Development and I found it very unfunny and lame!! Not worth bringing back!

Then I suppose someone should tell Ron Howard where else he can find some money.

There's always money in the banana stand.
