She is really not funny at all, so it's unfortunate that this AD revival will cast her, but hopefully we don't get too much of her destroying scenes with her terribleness. A couple flashbacks wouldn't be so bad.

Um, I know it's a FARK meme, so you were probably really excited to post that, but next time, try to do it in a context where it actually makes sense.

No, I know. I've been waiting on this for a while but I have also been trying to starve myself of news about the new revival. And I like Kristen Wigg because she can do really funny character work.

I hate her in sketch comedy, but she is great in every film I've seen.  Her and Hader really perked up adventureland, and of course bridesmaids

You know, I didn't really like Bridesmaids. I like Maya Rudolph quite a bit, but the movie didn't work for me at all.

That film wasn't helped by Melissa McCarthy, either, whom I felt was sort of like a Pam Poovey expy except way less funny.

I think I started to sit through Adventureland once, as it was in my Netflix queue, but I can't remember anything about it.

Anyway, I mostly know her from SNL, and she made that show pretty much unwatchable for me. Then again, it's not like she was working with the best material either (except, wasn't she head writer).

It made sense to me.  It was the right context.  Kristen Wiig is really funny to many people, but her brand of comedy can be polarizing.  She does deadpan humor so well, but she doesn't have that warm energetic personality that Poehler and Fey have.

Do not understand the hatred for Kristinn Wiig. Funny and hot (in those black shorts in Extract....oh. I'd hit it).

Just wonder if Wiig will go obsessive on a DJ too....

peterthx: Also, Kate McKinnon > Kristin Wiig > Vanessa Bayer

IMHO McKinnon has the best range of the current cast. Bayer's characters don't have as much.

I thought she was excellent on The Big Gay Sketch Show too. Most of that show was pandering, sure. But it still had its moments.

i watch The New Looney Tunes show with my kid and Kristen Wiig is hilarious as the voice of Lola Bunny

Have you told you wife you are gay yet?

Yeah, you can tell by the cole slaw on the side and the flatness of the actress' tummy.
yummy yummy
wait
who puts a pickle in their slaw?

I guess she and I were never meant to be.

I'd still bang her like a cab door in a rush.

Welcome to Fark, etc., but I never understood the significant amount of Kristen Wiig hate on here.  While I don't think she's the funniest person in the history of funny people, she has really made me laugh hard on several occasions, between her work on SNL and elsewhere.  But then again, surely I'm an idiot and my opinions are wrong and I should feel bad.

Well, that's not it at all. Amy Poehler is funny. Tina Fey is funny. Lucille Ball was funny. Betty White is funny.

Hell, just look at the cast of AD. Jessica Walter - funny. Portia de Rossi - funny. If I didn't think women were funny, I'd hate this show since the women in the cast are such a huge part of it.

Lots of women are funny.

Can't I just find her unfunny because she is really bad at comedy?

Unless you're Kristen Wiig, it really shouldn't matter to you what people think about Kristin Wiig.

KatjaMouse: babygoat: Yes, seriously try to post things in a context where they make sense. Otherwise you're just shiatting up threads for no reason.

It was in context. He brought up that it was "unfortunate" that she was added to the cast. That she'd stink up the place with her "terribleness". Yet lots of people, including many Farkers, like her and find her funny.

Saying you don't like something isn't the same as telling other people not to like it, which is what the meme is about.

It was a swing and a miss.

I've got some rather low expectations for it.  It's been a long time for the cast and over the years, actors tend to lose their connection to characters.  That said, the original shows are on Netflix and I've been watching them a few a week and they're just as funny as I remember.

Actually it's better -- there's plenty of foreshadowing jokes you'll only notice on repeat viewings.

well, the series creator is on-board. haven't heard how many original writers came back. apparently michael cera is going to write as well as act. that kinda worries me.

haven't seen wiig outside of SNL, but i don't really care for her. i'll give her the benefit of the doubt, though. if she can follow direction well and not try and put her own "spin" on the character, it could work.

i love AD, but there's no guarantee this new season will be good. the entire format is different and it's been years since the show was cancelled.

Hi, I'm SLITG, and I'm a woman!

And I agree with you.  I've been at best nonplussed and at best annoyed by anything I've seen Wiig in.

That said, I kind of trust AD not to f--k sh-t up.  They're pretty good at integrating guest stars.  I mean, hell, you find Carl Weathers, he needs some work, you get some bones from craft services, Baby, You Got a Stew On!

It is a lot better with repeat viewings.  They set up jokes in the first season that don't pay off until the last season.  The writing is so multilayered.  I think that's why I loved the show so much.  The witty, smart layered stories.

I forgot if it was before or after he lost the hand, but there's also a scene where he's sitting on a bench with an ad that says something about Army officers and his body obscures it so it reads "Arm off".

It was literally right before he ran into the ocean and the seal attacked him IIRC.

They did the same thing with Rita Leeds covering a Wee Britain bench advertisement to say "Wee Brain."
