Or as they say in China... ping pong.

I love the opponents reaction.  Five seconds of "What the fark did he just do?" followed by a "Oh, jolly good shot" clap.

Why do I like that movie so much?  I can't help but watch it if I'm channel surfing and it is on.

+1 for calling it table tennis and not the dismissive "ping pong".

we played a lot of it back when i was in 'A' school many moons ago. we had one fellow who seemed nearly unbeatable. you name it he could do it. fellow could do stuff with spin that i thought was impossible. risers, sinkers, balls that did the most aggravating cheap rebounds the minute they touched the table..

i saw him avoid losing to a dribbler shot by hurling the paddle into the net, deflecting the ball on the way. he caught the dang thing on the rebound and kept going. who cares if it was legal, it was damn cool to see.

for fun once we took some high-tack double sided tape and layered one face of a paddle with it and had him go to town on some balls.

if you put enough spin on a ball you can get it to loop in mid-air. or corkscrew. or spin so damn fast you could hear the ball hum as it went down the table. there was enough english on those balls that a couple of them would peel out and take off at perpendicular angles when they made contact with the table.

In fairness the top 4 in the world in table tennis are Chinese and 8 of the top 10 are Asian (the other two are German).

/yeah I googled it, I'm not weird enough to actually follow it

My comment was in reference to the logic that because the winner's next opponent is presumed to be Asian, therefore "Who cares?".

As if he'd care about watching a video of this shot if the next opponent was of a different race.

I mean, sure, it's kinda racist...but all it means is that their next opponent is going to kick their ass, so the shot doesn't matter. Kinda like March Madness upsets. Cool, the 15-seed upset a 2-seed on a buzzer-beater. That just makes things easier for everyone else in that bracket.
