Medeiros' song "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You"

Oh, that dude. I probably wouldn't even remember if it weren't for the fact that awful video was on all the time.

Getting promoted to V-Principal vs Coked out has been on basic cable reality TV rehab show...

I'd say he's doing well.

I suppose he could still wind up on SyFy's latest Sharkodile or Robohipposaurus Rex flick if the VP thing falls through.

Wyatt from "Wierd Science" is a professor of Medieval Literature at Cal State, Long Beach.

I doubt he does lectures with a bra on his head, though.

I lied. It made it to number 1 on the UK Billboard.

I wonder how much crap he catches when kids catch wind of his pop music career and find old pictures though...

Imagine if your awkward 80's school pictures were easily searchable online, and had videos to along with them...(shudder)

I would not consider a wuss-rock star a "pop star", but I might consider him the king of hold music, or the emperor of elevator music.

Call me when the headline substitues PORN star for POP star.

Or write and perform a bunch of big hits, yet still pursue a career in dentistry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeeen
Or quit as the DJ of a popular trio to take over your family's Buddhist temple http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ%E3%82%B1%E3%83%9F%E3%82%AB%E3%83%AB

I would think having a teacher who has had number one hits would be a positive thing.
"I wanna quit school and become a rock star!"
"Well kid, you can do that, and still get a degree"

Oh that song? I always thought that was Chicago singing that.

Pop star good, educator bad.  Sounds about right.

Say what you will about him, but he will always be one of my greatest heroes.

It was after serenading my high-school girlfriend with that song that she let me touch her naughty bits for the first time.

I came here to say this :) Much better to see someone who had his fifteen minutes of fame and moved on to being an actual productive member of society instead of desperately trying to wring out an extra minute or two the rest of his life.

I have a lot more respect for his current profession than I have for his former one.

Kudos to him.

Abe Vigoda's Ghost: Here's his number 12 hit Billboard hit (UK Charts)

Oh god, glad I've never been a pop listener.  The advert prior to the vid was the best part.

I loved that song. It was the first song I looked for when I got Napster.

RoboCop completed a Master's degree in Roman and Renaissance Art at Syracuse University.
I wish more entertainers would use the success they earn to better themselves and prepare for a future of none-fame.

Except for a select few, it will end someday.

I never should have googled that. It is going to be stuck in my frakking head all day! I have heard it a million times, just assumed it was Richard Marx or some random boy band.

Well, until said kid listens to Mr. Medeiros'shiat and says, "No, no, not a here today-gone tomorrow yacht rock pussy, a rock star!"

I love that song! (I'm a sucker for sappy '80s love songs..)  Great story, good for him. Much preferable to appearing on Celebrity Rehab or Dancing with the D-list "Stars."

I saw him on the Tonight Show in the day. He was painfully shy, and they cut right to commercials.

Ha, a news story so close to home. I live just a couple blocks away from Maryknoll School. My nephew attends the school, and has told me that the kids really look up to Mr. Medeiros. My father in law does a fundraiser dinner every year, and a few years ago, Glenn Medeiros agreed to sing a few songs. From all appearances, he seems to be a good guy. Also, he has a smoking hot wife.

He was also doing a show at the Hale Koa on Waikiki for several years.  Did a nice job...

Good on him.

Wasn't he the one who never wanted to be a pop star in the first place and his album was released as a fundraiser for some kid with cancer? I can't remember now if that was in the liner notes or an interview, or if I just dreamed it.
