Washington TV station KIRO got a bunch of people high and set them loose on a police road course

Ground-breaking journalism, that...

If it's anything like the kush I get I couldn't possibly smoke that much.

Yeah, I don't want anyone intoxicated on any substance sharing the roads with me.  Drink or smoke your buds at home, plenty of fantastic reasons to stick to that policy.

Can't see the video - even at HuffPo. But can they be any worse than the snowbirds here in Arizona? One pulled out in front of me this morning (turning right) as I was entering the intersection (green light on my side, red on hers) and thankfully I wasn't speeding.

Look, man, if there's one thing I know, it's how to drive while I'm stoned. It's like you know your perspective's farked so you just let your hands work the controls as if you were straight.

I'll agree with the opinion that the driving instructor is as baked as any of the drivers.  "My friend here clipped a sign and ran over a couple of cones, but, y'know, she's cool, she's got this".

I think the point is 'drives as well as the average teenage dirtbag taking their test'.

I'll leave it up to you what that is an argument in favor of.

Hogwash.

Marijuana does not interfere with motor coordination, that is a proven fact.

You can drive as well stoned as you can sober, although you might be more easily distracted and would have to focus concentration better.

I do not recommend the practice but I am aware of people who have flown high--powered fighter jets while stoned on pot.

You shouldn't ever do either of them. It's an irresponsible risk to others; kill/maim yourself if you want to, but do it alone.

That said, anyone who thinks MJ impairs you to anywhere near the extent that booze does hasn't been intoxicated by both, and their opinion is invalid.

IIRC, it wasn't Jim... it was Latka.

Jim was the one who identified the fact that the cookies were loaded with coke.

How farked up is it that you can actually run news segments where you get people baked out of their gourd to test how well they can drive?

Truly these are heady times to be a pothead.

abhorrent1: I don't know about scary, subby. Most of them drove fine. If they didn't they didn't they drove poorly really slow.

A low speed cone test doesn't show much, there isn't even anyone else around. Atleast throw a robot puppy/horse onto the roadway between their laps and see if they can react to the changed events.  I don't know about you but my drives don't consist of only me on the road. They are also very unpredictable in terms of events that can happen with cars around you. Braking suddenly, people that merge without looking in blind spots, people that can't judge how fast/slow a car is approaching when they decide to enter the road from a parking lot.

Based upon the amount of marijuana in KIRO's test recipients' blood, they were well over the legal limit while driving the course.

And 48 hours later, based on the amount of marijuana in their blood (never mind that phrase doesn't even make any f*cking sense), how many were still over the legal limit? Also how well did they do on the follow-up tes? Were "honest mistakes" or "errors" counted as "impairment" because they still had metabolites in their bloodstream from ingestion two days ago?

Honest, hardworking people who like to toke up on the weekends would like to know. Drunks don't get popped for a binge they went on several days ago, I'd just like to be in the same boat.

2013-02-19 03:20:32 PM
To anyone saying that you shouldn't drive with any amount of pot in your system, do you also feel that you shouldn't be able to go to a bar, have 1 beer (or glass of wine or whatever), and drive home?

Different amounts of different substances hit different people differently.  Some can take a hit or 2 and be just fine to drive, work, etc.  Some can have a beer or 2 and be perfectly fine as well.  Some people can't take one hit of weed (or a glass of wine or whatever) without it laying them out on the couch.

I'm not condoning anything.  Just saying that some people aren't necessarily too high to drive after a few hits just like some people aren't necessarily too drunk to drive after a beer or 2.

2013-02-19 03:22:15 PM
They're gonna have to start pulling over everybody carefully driving the speed limit to check and make sure they aren't driving under the influence of marijuana.

/you know, for your safety

2013-02-19 03:23:20 PM
What I took from this is that none of them was impaired until they were more than 5x the legal limit, in some cases 15x the legal limit.

Unless visibly and clearly impaired, driving stoned should have the same penalty as texting while driving- A distracted driving.  Eyes on the road, two hands on the wheel and stoned is preferable to eyes in your lap.  And there still isn't a ticket for drowsy driving, which there should be if these two things are illegal.

Exactly! Instead of hiring a pot czar to determine how much to grow, the state oughta be doing real research into the levels and reactions of pot smoking on driving to give a solid answer to that question.

Ego edo infantia cattus: CSB- While in the navy during Nam, Our ship (USS Hunley, a sub tender) made a transit from Guam to Bremerton for overhaul

. It stopped in Hawaii, and I scored some hash, but didn't get it all smoked up before we had to leave, so I stuffed it in an Instamatic and hid it in the M/G room. We got to Bremerton and I checked out of the navy, putting that camera with all my other crap in a duffle bag. Five years on, I'm married with twins, a dachshund, and a job in the Shipyard, when I rediscovered the camera. The hashball was still wrapped up tight and pliable. I put it on the coffee and went to get the wife so's we could enjoy the re-booty. I came back to find the baggy on the floor, empty and the damn dog looking for a place to hide. It had gotten the dope and I was flabbergasted. Anyway, The dog spent the next two days sleeping and traveling to his food dish and back, slowly. That's it, the dog got the dope. Pretty lame, huh? /END CSB
