Not that there's anything wrong with that.

And I don't get where "gay" is coming from (nttawwt). They whole point of these pics were an invitation to a sorority. If I were the girls, I'd think it was funny as hell.

At this point I almost feel left out that I never had any big gay frat orgies in college.  Like, were we the only ones who didn't get the memo?  Or was I just studying that night?

/NTTAWWT
//Well, not studying so much as video games.

FrancoFile: I'm more upset over their use of the flag than I am the nudity.  It's a frat house; of course there's a latent homosexual subtext.

You can probably strike "latent" and "subtext"..

Pikes, huh? Well, at least they weren't butt-chugging themselves into a coma with box wine this time.

2013-02-19 01:25:47 PM
There are 3 guys in my frat out of like 70 that I now know as gay, but it's been like 5 years since I've talked to any of them.

After we graduated ('99), this one guy decided to finally just be gay, which led to some hilarious conversations.  Someone in denial told me "he's not gay, he just likes to go to gay bars."

Another bro wanted to have an intervention.  He kept saying, "We just need to talk some sense into him."

I'm not sure why anyone cared.  It was 15 years ago (and Indiana), so that's probably part of it.

Naked by itself is not gay, of course.  Naked with a bunch of hot guys as you try to conceal a chubby .. = gay.

thecpt: Lollipop165: Stealing "letters" is a big no-no in the greek system

At least you did it the fun way.  A frat tried to steal one sororities letters at my school and the sister who caught them locked the closet and called the cops.  Could have held them hostage or pranked them (like squirt guns or something) but no, farking breaking and entering.

The guys tried to do that and FREAKED the fark out of a new girl in my sorority. Thank god there were some older girls home who knew the guy.  We lived in NYC, and if you see a guy coming in the middle of night in your sorority house, you can imagine why a girl might be scared to shiat.

So we had to have a sit down with the fraternity and threw a party or some such for them to break even so they wouldn't come into our house.

We had 4 openly gay brothers out of 50 or so.  2 came out later, but they were expected anyways.  They were comfortable about it and so were we.

Being in the north east had something to do with it.

How is this an issue to anyone?

And for those of you upset about the use of the flag, I'd suggest that if you want it treated with dignity and respect start complaining about this crap:

I'm confused... how does this "dishonor the flag" (a stupid concept all its own) or hurt anyone outside of folks thinking they're gay? Also, how is this considered semi-nude? In fact, what the hell is semi-nude? You're either naked or not naked.

wow, you slept with two whole women in college? You should totes brag about that, broheim.

Not trying to brag, just trying to emphasize how very different my house was. now that I'm out of college and know what the hell I'm doing, I'll go toe to toe with anybody on stories.

A very drunk Texan once upbraided me for saying frat. As he pointed out, you wouldn't call your country a coont, so why would you call your fraternity a frat?

2013-02-19 01:32:14 PM
We had a guy with a sweatshirt from one of the frats show up for the first day of HTY403, Ancient Greek History. Sat in back looking really confused and never showed up again.

Has anyone pointed out that there's something homoerotic about frat guys?

I think many of them might secretly be gay.

Ok, I can understand that.  The situation was talking about was not breaking and entering (everyone has key card access everywhere before 10pm).  She saw them in the closet in their basement and understood it.

Now if its animal house panty raid, they can crank out the baseball bats, but every greek was overly offended by everything which made "pranks" more like domestic underground hate crime terrorism by the time I graduated.  People would defecate in the others' house as a "prank."  Websites like collegeacb didn't exactly help either.

In the group flag photo, I daresay they are indeed all wearing short-shorts.

That being said, the gentlemen second from left and third from left need to be washed and brought to my tent.

Defensive much?

This might be a bit subtle for you, if it seems complex, try reading it a second time: The "gay frat guy" thing is funny because frat boys are famous for acting in "hyper-masculine" ways. When there's evidence that this behavior is compensation for suppressed homosexual impulses, we are amused. We are not laughing at their "gayness", but at their clownish attempts to cover this gayness with absurd hetero-theatricals.

Straight-up gay slurs get condemned because that's just hate speech, and the answer to hate speech is more speech.

Do you understand now?

See what I did there?

I cannot count how many of my current life problems would have to disappear before I had the time and mental energy to care about this total non-story.

I was always the antithesis of frat-dude when I was in school.  But I thought it was hit and miss amusing.  But I give them a pass for writing this:

America gave the world Hostess and then pioneered the capital management metrics which shut that shiat down.

I always thought that was a lousy analogy and would say so.  I call my examination an exam.  If exam was slang for vagina, then I wouldn't but it isn't.  Same with frat.  I don't see why I should use four syllables when I can use one.

Ok, but seriously... that's a fantastic invite. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm impressed with their effort. They didn't just go buy a couple of kegs and say "party over here." Although I also think the flag is a piece of cloth, so maybe I'm not the right target for outrage.

One of the guys' halls where I went to college did something similar, standing on the college sign and spelling out the name of the hall with strategically placed pieces of paper (that they didn't do a good job of strategically placing). Some guys were mad about the editorial my sister wrote condemning hazing in hall initiations and decided that the best retaliation would be to send her the picture through the campus mail.

Is this where I go to make fun of fraternities and sororities?  Is this where I make those people feel bad for their trivial need for acceptance, belonging, while ridiculing others that don't share that belief?

This thread is funny. It's like when women call a bunch of half naked girls sluts, only you all call these guys gay. Personally, I have no chance with anyone nearly that young or good looking so it doesn't matter if they are gay or straight, I just like the view.

stuhayes2010: How are they going to explain that black guy in their fraternity?

Um, the issue is usually the opposite: black guy in non-black fraternity risks ostracism by other black people on campus.

2013-02-19 01:53:21 PM
Farce-Side:

Uhhh....who cares?

Of course the token black guy is in the middle, but do his fratbros understand the '68 Olympics reference? I don't have a problem with the composition of the photo, this guy centers it nicely, but why is there only one black guy? Surely "non-whites" are as capable of Sunset Blush enemas and gratuitous weeny-wagging as anybody else.

But aside from that, that this "story" must be the product of a bad hangover on a slow news day.

And no, I don't see anything homo about it. Not every semi-nude male is gay, not even when aggregated.
