CapeFearCadaver: I'm thinking that having them taken away is what set her off to begin with. Could be wrong, however.
Nor do I think her kids are feeling lucky at the moment, but whatever.

Her boyfriend killed himself in the same house not more a couple of months ago.  I'm thinking that didn't help her a bit.

spentmiles: Bit'O'Gristle: Didn't wanna leave the dog alone huh? Bullshiat. I had to shoot one of my dogs, and it was the hardest thing i have ever had to do. I think it was more "her spirit will be with me" than she didnt want the dog to be alone, as SOMEONE would have taken it. Thank god her kids werent there, she would have offed them too.

Hard for you maybe.  Like Mindy, I grew up on a farm where death, probably more so than life, was part of the daily routine.  Some animal was either too sick to go on, or more often, we had too many already.  I remember standing behind the barn cat with a hammer as she gave birth.  Then one of our mules got tangled up in some barbed wire and all I had was a cattle prod.  It took forever and stunk like all get out.  For my birthday one year, all of our chickens came down with some sort of avian flu.  My back hurt from lugging around the weed whacker all day.  Was it fun?  At first.  But then it was just work.  That's farm living, I suppose.

I've never been happier than the day after my folks passed away in their sleep and I was free from that griding existence.  I herded all the horses and goats and pigs and everything else into the huge aluminum equipment barn and chained the doors.  They said you could see the smoke and hear the animals all the way in town.  I guess you get a little callous living around animals like that, but somebody's got to do it.

Great, now I'm laughing at work and my co-workers think I'm nuts (these things may or may not be related)

You sir, are a genus.

Anderson's Pooper: She didn't commit suicide, she was broke and out of dog food and didn't want the poor pup to go hungry.

If that's the case, she should have just shot herself, then the dog could've eaten well for a few days anyhow

Yeah, this is why parents off their kids, too. And because they have this idea that they can't live without them.

quatchi: "This was at least her third attempt [at suicide]," said the insider. "She is finally at peace."

Third times the charm?

"Mindy really loved her dog and that would not have been an act of malice at all," the pal insisted. "It would have been more of a case where she just didn't want to leave the dog alone."

She probably thought she and the dog would get into heaven together like some Earl Hamner Jr. written episode of Twilight Zone.

--Came here to say the same thing about third time being a charm. I guess we'll be sharing the same bus on our trip to hell.

Elzar: "A true suicide is a paced, disciplined certainty. People pontificate, "Suicide is selfishness." Career churchmen like Pater go a step further and call in a cowardly assault on the living. Oafs argue this specious line for varying reason: to evade fingers of blame, to impress one's audience with one's mental fiber, to vent anger, or just because one lacks the necessary suffering to sympathize. Cowardice is nothing to do with it - suicide takes considerable courage. Japanese have the right idea. No, what's selfish is to demand another to endure an intolerable existence, just to spare families, friends, and enemies a bit of soul-searching. The only selfishness lies in ruining strangers' days by forcing 'em to witness a grotesqueness.

Ah, David Mitchell. That man can write.

I was already smiling when I saw your (own) color pop up but by the time I hit the hammer/cat sentence, salad had shot out of my nose and the vinaigrette burns like fire.

So, thanks!

If that were the case, then she would have hit the dog with it.  She may have been testing the lethality of the bullets, however.

This is certainly one of those times when child services (or whatever they call it there), did the right thing.  Apparently the judge knew she was unstable to the point of being danerous, and made sure the kids were out of her care.

So, yeah, I agree with you.  She almost certainly would have blown them away too.

The correct answer is she didn't.

The evil guns jumped up and killed everyone by themselves. It was probably a semi-automatic military style AK-47 made by Glock, with black paint.
