Look Marge, you don't know what it's like. I'm the one out there every day putting his ass on the line. And I'm not out of order! You're out of order. The whole freaking system is out of order. You want the truth? You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth! 'Cause when you reach over and put your hand into a pile of goo that was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do! Forget it, Marge, it's Chinatown!

i still marvel at what we call traffic down here.

though i am all for train service since we have none outside of an amtrak that drops you off in the absolute worst area of north charleston.

Donuts: Is there anything they can't do?

2013-02-19 11:33:30 AM
So what is the answer? A $1 million federally funded COG study aims for a solution to the I-26 traffic mess as it evaluates futuristic sounding options such as a levitating train powered by magnetism that travels at 300 mph. At the other end of the mass transit idea spectrum is a conventional commuter train that pokes along at a more leisurely pace. Ferry boats, monorails, buses and aerial tramways also are up for consideration.

I wish I could get one of these $1 million dollar studies? Congestion? Flying cars, HoverOverCoats and Mary Poppin-esque umbrellas. Or more roads, light rail, medium rail, heavy rail, car carrying trains and train carrying cars. Too bad you can't afford any of that though. You just blew it all on a PowerPoint presentation and a formal dinner for the 5 people who authorized my million dollar payday.

Sounds like a bunch of morons in Summerville didn't think it through when they got a job that's 45 minutes away without traffic.

Why would they build a monorail in a small town with a centralized population around a town center?

I was hoping it was replacing the red lights with more yellow, since that is when people go faster.

Promote freight trains and get the majority of trucks off the road.  It's way more energy efficient when it comes to $/ton of freight and will save a tremendous amount of wear and tear on our highway system.

I just wish they would fix the intersection of I-26 and I-526.  That thing was a clusterfark from the beginning and causes problems every day.

?

Coming from 526.. there never seems to be a problem getting onto 26 in either direction.

Here's your interesting rail discussion. Having lived in South Carolina for a number of years; there is no way people are going to use a high speed rail, low speed rail, or any rail. They will perhaps use speed, if it's available.

New Jersey considered a monorail up Rte 17, from Hasbrouck Heights with stops at the shopping malls in Paramus and ending at the farmer's market in Ramsey at the state line.

Instead, we got that abortion at the Rte 3 - Rte 17 interchange, another abortion at the Rte 17 - Rte 4 interchange and a traffic jam all the way to the NY state line.

Left there 30 years ago, never looked back

/still one of the most beautiful states in the Union once you get out to Sussex on the Water Gap

"The trip to her job as a paralegal on James Island typically takes an hour. And then there's the drive home after work."

To be fair, she could actually live an hour away.
