That experiment sorely lacked the ever-important scientific control toilet.

I usually like cat vids but that was kinda boring.

Also, how do we know that that cat will only drink out of bottle caps? Give the cat a bowl of water and let us judge ourselves.

I'm going to agree that we need a video of the cat with a few choices for water.  If it ignores all the other choices and goes for the cap of water, then ok, the cat is more neurotic than normal cats.

Big deal, out cat only drinks out of a highball glass, or if that's in the dishwasher, a plastic Cliff Lee Souvenir Cup from 2007.

You suck, your video sucks and you should feel awful, subby.

My cat Snowball is the same way. She'll only drink out of cup or straight from the faucet. I've even tried food bowls with those little nifty spots for a water bottle on them and apparently neither of my cats like that. I'm thinking it's that they want fresh water instead of stale water in the bowl?

My cat drink water out of my belly button.....at least he thinks it's water

It's not even Caturday.

This is the worst submission and greenlighting to ever happen in the history of humanity.

Bad, subby, bad. Who at Fark was drunk enough to green that? Can we beat them with a wet noodle?

Exactly.  My cat did that years ago, drinking only out of my cupped hand full of water or this tall, ugly plastic cup.  He trained our other cats to do it too.  He also showed his displeasure at the stale water, or low water level, by tipping the glass over and spilling it.  We tried one of those cat fountains - the thing that runs water down a slope so it's never stale - but he didn't use it.

The desire for fresh water may also be why they drink out of the toilet.

Subby: Cat will only drink out of bottle cap.

The reality: Cat drinks out of bottle cap.

Farkers: Subby's a twat.

This is just like the 'my cat will only eat tuna' people. Guess what, your cat wont starve itself to death. It will eat whatever is available once it is really hungry. The cat just has more patience and willpower than you do. The cat has trained you to do what it wants.

You miss the point. The cat will only drink out of a bottle cap because the owner is a farking asshole who only offers water to it from a bottle cap.

My guess is it's subby's video

Yup -- our guy only drinks out of glasses he sees people drink from. He wont drink from a bowl -- likewise he has two glasses. A coffee mug and a dollar store glass. We ended up just giving him the glasses after we noticed he would not drink all day and then kept trying to sneak his face into our cups when we set them down. Its all the same fresh water, but damnit he wants his in a mug.

He only drinks from the far side of it though. He streches his mane out over all the water and gets all soggy and he licks the far edge of the cup instead of lapping at the water directly. Weirds.

My cat requires ice cubes in his water dish.

To the point where he sits by the fridge and meows for ice.

//He licks the ice on the windows, too.
///Strange cat.

Used to have one that would dip her paw into the bowl and then lick the water off.

Current cat will only drink from a bowl after making the water move by hitting the edge or tipping it and making it slosh around.

/She also chases her tail to the point of stumbling dizziness

Tell me that water doesn't have all the normal chemical treatments that are supposed to go in an aquarium.  Some of those aren't exactly good for cats.

That's kinda like how one of my cats will only go in and out through a window from the front porch instead of the dog/cat door.  Only because someone (not me) insists on indulging him.

My kitty doesn't drink water straight out of the bowl; she dips her front paws in it and licks the water off. She's not the only cat with a drinking problem, it seems.

Since it is a fishbowl, not an aquarium I can assure you I do not treat the water. When I fill the jug that holds the extra water, I do leave it uncovered overnight to let the chlorine dissipate so it is safer for the fish without compromising the cats.
