(CBC)   Remember that story about the whales trapped in the ice and the humans who rallied to save them? This is just like that, except instead of humans, they're polar bears. And instead of saving them, they eat them   (cbc.ca) divider line 37

We need to teach these bears to follow a vegan diet so the whales don't get hurt.

Too bad there's no 23rd century team of heroes who could travel back in time with a commandeered enemies' warship to save them.

"He estimates that there are another 20 whales still stuck.
He said the remaining belugas will also be harvested and given to the community."

So the polar bears were lucky they got there first. The whales get eaten anyway. There is no "rally to save them."

I'm fine with that but what does whale meat taste like?  I imagine it to be blubbery.

My thoughts exactly! Lets send a bus to a PeTA rally, and tell them we have a group of meat eaters that really need to learn the benefits of a vegan diet.  They we parachure them all into the arctic with a bunch of flyers to hand out.

Notice how the natives have learned public relations so the whales are "killed" by the polar bears, but "harvested" for the people.

Tell the Peta team that they can wear less layers by coating themselves in fish oil and those cuddly looking bears are scared of them so they should run straight at the bears.

SwiftFox: Notice how the natives have learned public relations so the whales are "killed" by the polar bears, but "harvested" for the people.

People involved with hunting often refer to collecting on a successful hunt "harvesting" -- in the fish and game pamphlets they refer to terms like "deer harvest for 2010-11" and stuff like that. Its PR maybe a bit -- but I think you would be hard pressed to smear the Inuit for killing and eating whales. Its their heritage. You would be a huge asshole to suggest they not eat whale.

And yeah -- bears eat too. That commercial they have on TV about polar bear cubs being born blind 'so lets give to the save polar bears charity to give them a helping hand'! pisses me off so bad. What do they even do with that money? Lord knows the best use of it would be to just use it all on shipping bear proof garbage containers north.  Of course polar bear cubs are born blind. They live in the artic and are born durring winter in a cave of snow. The sun doesn't even show up for months. Nor do the bears leave the den for months.
