Throw that coont of a dog owner into the trash and be done with it.

If only I could keep the cats  out of the garbage.

FTFA: You should never throw a puppy in the trash can - dead or alive, obviously.

Of course you shouldn't throw a live animal into the garbage, but why not a dead animal? People flush dead fish down the toilet or bury small pets in the ground somewhere. So, why would it be wrong to dispose of a dead animal in the trash? It's going to end up "buried" in a landfill.

I've never had an animal that wasn't a pet. Of the pets my children and I have had all but two were buried on the property. The other two were put down by vets who handled the remains.
/ my youngest child had mice.
// when we moved I discovered that she had wrapped the corpses in tissue paper and they had mummified
/// after some serious discussion she let me bury them in the backyard

hero? he took a flea bag that no one wants out of a trash bag. That's not exactly what a "hero" does. That word has lost all meaning thanks to it being misused like this.

My spayed and neutered cats will rip open the garbage bag if there's anything remotely interesting inside.

Hero tag is wasted. We need a "decent" tag, because really, half the things that get tagged "hero" around here are really just what decent people do. Nothing heroic about it.

This just in - anyone arguing about the use of the hero tag needs to get a life. And/or find something better to troll about.

Ok, I can tell you're really offended by a submitter's choice in how to describe this on Fark. A website he probably hasn't heard of.

Drew and all of moderators are on strict hero tag monitoring.

No no no; you put Kittens in pillow cases, not garbage bags.  Garbage bags take too long to sink, and they can claw their way out.

That works. In any case, how many other puppies have been killed in the garbage by the idiots who let their dogs starve? The garbage man has saved his puppy, but also potential future puppies, from an awful fate. Don't know if that's heroic, exactly, but it's certainly close enough.

Near our house, we found an American Bulldog biatch on the street slowly freezing--she was not a Winter breed.  It was apparent from her behaviour--for the first year she would flinch if you tried to pet her--that she'd been beaten.  The only things she wants, even more than food, are to be petted and to hunt.  When she sees a rabbit or a mole, she's rocket-dog.
A year later, we found a 6-week old puppy in the weeds crying for her mother; also abandoned.

People suck.

Well, most of 'em anyways.

"Hero" has come to mean "someone to admire".  Originally, a hero was simply the protagonist of a morality tale - the first character to appear, or the focus of the story.  A hero could be an idiot, a coward, a criminal, or whatever.

I think it's appropriate. Isn't a hero someone who rescues someone else? This fellow rescued that dog from being crushed and gave it a good home. He;s more of a hero than some poxy football player or pop star.

He is more of a hero than those people, but no, he didn't rescue someone or something, he refrained from harming something he found. He didn't jump into a frozen lake or walk over hot coals to save a puppy, he found a puppy in danger and he didn't callously toss it aside. I'm not denigrating his character, I'm just also not hyperbolizing it.

I think we should definitely dissect every aspect down to the most minute detail & lawyer everyone to death over the meaning of a word instead of just celebrating a good soul who did a good deed.
