I was on I-95 last year and a semi tractor trailer lost a 10 foot section of 6x6 wood that took out four cars.

People who can't manage to secure shiat to their trucks really piss me off.

A ladder falling off on a highway screams dipshiat contractor to me.  Route 24 in Massachusetts is chock full of them, especially during rush hour.  They're some of the worst drivers on the planet, and I drive around Rhode Islanders and Bostonians on a regular basis.

Seatbelts also kill people so fark off with your on screen words..... Cops also exempt in many jurisdictions from wearing seat belts too.

/ex: T-boned and unless your seat releases(breaks) you get some nice organ damage from the belt position.

///You know whats really annoying with accident investigations? Where the seat belt released from the latch and unless you stress test what appears to be a standard "not wearing seatbelt", you end up with a report of "occupant ejected due to not wearing seat belt". I tend to get the hell away from mattress cars ASAP when I see them.  Like the guy a couple of weeks ago where the mattress had to be up around 30 degrees due to the wind.  Can't imagine how bad his gas mileage must've been for that trip.

The odds of you being killed by a seat belt are way, way, way smaller than getting killed in accident because you weren't wearing one.  You might want to take a basic physics course before continuing your crusade to discredit seat belts, rather than a lawyer's "how seat belts fail" page.

I almost gave SUV drivers (and full size van drivers) a pass because it is crazy difficult to get snow off the top of one if you aren't over 6 feet tall.  But then we got my wife an SUV and it turns out they make snow brushes specifically for SUVs, so no more pass.

Oh, you're one of those people.

Your seat belt is much more likely to save you than kill you.

And isn't it just a litter petty and bitter to complain that aren't required to wear them?

Hey, a few states (at least one) it's still a secondary offense so they can't pull you over for not wearing one - they can still write a ticket, but it can't be the reason for pulling you over.

Most state laws don't exempt police.  It seems to be a cultural thing with older cops, but that doesn't make it legal.

My father had a horrific motorcycle accident when I was a child, 8 months before they even let us kids see and talk to him, and I thought he was brain damaged when we did (he probably is still, but he covered well. I guess several months in a coma can make it seem worse). He was not wearing a helmet. Based on the witness reports and how his head took first trauma it was stated by the doctors and police that a helmets straps would have crushed his neck if he was wearing one, as it would have been ripped off him due to the angle.

Needless to say, I still wear a farking helmet when I ride, because those situations are rare. Statistics do not lie, I will side with the proven countermeasure instead of hoping for a statistical anomaly to save my life..

People running from the police never seem to wear seatbelts.  You'd think it would be a requirement.

Apparently the minivan took that dude's head off when it ran over him, but I can't find the follow up video with the two tarps.

I think it was a blowout - and the last thing the driver should have done was jerk the wheel wildly from one side to the other. That was their last mistake, the first being the failure to inflate properly.

I'll bet you think motorcycle helmets are designed to break your neck so you are killed rather than risk brain damage too.

And you sound super fun at parties. There's probably medication you should be taking.

My buddy once caused a wreck of about that magnitude, closing 880 through Oakland on our side, and bringing the opposite side to a 5 mph rubbernecking crawl.

The only reason I know it was him and nob somebody else is because I saw the whole thing from the passenger seat.

Sometimes you don't get the opportunity. Years back a friend driving 95 in Florida had a mattress come out from under an 18 wheeler and lodge under his front end. The trucker hit the brakes and all he could do was watch himself slide helplessly into the rear of the truck. The corner of the truck sliced the drivers side of the roof off cutting his shoulder belt 2 inches above his neck and he got lucky and lived(with injuries). Someone saw the rooftop mattress asshat that nearly killed someone rather than pay a few bucks for delivery and reported him. He was a Palm Beach county fire marshal and he drove away after the accident.

Contractors who cant secure things to their trucks need to get the shiat kicked out of them early and often.

-paint(FFFFFFF UUUUUUUU)
-4x8' sheets of plywood
-drywall
-random boxes of shiat
-scaffolding
-ladders
-folding tables
-etc etc etc

Ive seen it all.

It was an 8 or 10 foot extension ladder laying longways in the lane where your right tires would go. I barely managed to miss it. She was on my ass in the RAV4. I knew she wouldn't. What I didn't expect was for her to go all jerk/overcorrect crazy on the steering wheel. She was well passed the ladder when she did all that tomfoolery. Anyways, glad no one was hurt. Also glad the cop didn't pay no mind to me in my gas guzzler in the HOV lane at the time.

i was driving our truck, pulling a 27' trailer, and the same thing happened to me.  Tried to change lanes instantly, then thought better  ( I-15, Riverside County CA). Trailer swayed out of control, and the truck AND trailer flipped and started rolling down the slow lane of the freeway.  I managed to hit no one, or leave my lane, miraculously.  Ended up hanging upside down from our seatbelts, truck roof crushed to  *just* touching hubbie's head ( he had friction burns on his bald scalp...).  But no injuries.  new truck and trailer were a total loss.  CHP said 1. always hit the debris...don't try to avod it.  2. he never pulled a dead body out of a Toyota.  lol

I was going down a local freeway through town (60ish) and was behind a pickup hauling a sofa.  I noticed it wasn't secured and backed off a bit.  No more than a few minutes later, the sofa flies out of the pickup and into the left hand lane.  Luckily, no one was in that lane, but yeah,  people need to secure their shiat down.
