Obama seeks 10-year project to map the human brain. Degree of difficulty: finding a working human brain within a hundred miles of DC

Headline alternative : Obama seeks 10 year attempt to develop mind control! Planes to take over DC!

It all depends on how tight your tinfoil hat is

This just further proves Obama is the anti-christ and we are living in the end times.

But once it's mapped, who owns the copyright or patent on the mapping?

Won't someone think of big med/pharma?

2013-02-18 09:16:54 AM
Oh, come on. Map the human brain? Why not start small, get some practice? Start with Pelosi's.

Q:  Why are conservative brains worth more than liberal brains?

A:  Liberal brains are used.

That's cool and all, but I think he's behind the curve here.

I guess shoring up a decade's worth of funding is worthwhile. My employer will certainly benefit.

Oh, they're plenty smart in DC. How else could they vacuum the nations wealth towards their 'Capital City' and keep useful idiots around the country defending the endless expansion of government as advancing 'the greater good'?

You've seen them in this thread already.

Obama is my shepherd  I shall not want, or think, or act, or make any sort of independent business transaction without one of his sainted bureaucrats blessing off on it.

Well I am glad to see that the budget/debt, economy/jobs, Iran, North Korea, Syria, China, Keystone things have all been sorted out. I am only sorry he had to take time off from his vacation for this but he did say "We are going to have to ask everybody to sacrifice" so at least he included himself.

Not sure.  Maybe we can ask Bush and Rove for some insight.

This has got to be one of the dumbest things Obama has ever come up with. Six comments in and were already talking about how certain brains are better or worse than others.

It's a political mine field that people won't dare touch. Can you imagine the firestorm of controversy if brain of group 'x' was discovered better or worse than group 'y'?

the facts of anatomy and physiology are independent of how we interpret those facts, apply them, or use them in social discourse. people with brains know this.

I was wondering if this was more of a jab at DC Politicians, or the surrounding slums of DC, Baltimer, etc.  Ultimately decided it was both.

But it did get me thinking about how great it would be if the U.S. Senate went on a foot-tour through the DC Ghetto.  My guess is there'd be a frown on every face and a mint-condition Luger in every hand.

Ahhhh.... private business has studied the brain for decades.   But now the Gov't project can step in and when the time is right claim the pot of gold......... the patent rights.

The project, which could ultimately will cost billions of dollars, is expected to be part of the president's budget proposal next month.

I wonder if they'll use the knowledge gained to advance human society or how to better control human society?  Either way I'm all for more understanding.

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.

The first surgeon, from  New York , says, 'I like to see Accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.'

The second, from  Chicago , responds, 'Yeah, but you should try Electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.'

The third surgeon, from  Dallas , says, 'No, I really think Librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.'

The fourth surgeon, from  Los Angeles chimes in: 'You know, I like Construction workers.  Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.'

But the fifth surgeon, from  Washington ,  DC shut them all up when he observed: 'You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on.  There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine.  Plus, the head and the ass are interchangeable.'

He'd have to raid the Smithsonian office of exhibits, they're outside of DC, but within 100 miles

I think there's still a goal, just not one based on making immediate profit.

I'm pretty sure Kennedy gave a very explicit goal for the Apollo Program.  Plus a timeline.  Same timeframe, coincidentally.  OR NOT.  *dun dun dun...*

Hilarious!  Because it's so true... the one's with any of those present get washed out / lobotomized by the machine the same way McCain did when running from president.  He became a completely different person... but that's politics!  This is a science related article, what's with all the politician stuff?  I thought here at Fark we hold knowledge in sacred esteem.

To be fair, that's the section of brain where all the memories you don't want anyone to see, except may a couple understanding friends.

Sort of like that one partition on your home hard drive (mine may even have that same name) that you tell that very same trusting/understanding friend to overwrite should the worst happen.

/I hope I'm not the only one
