here to help: And as far as the electronics borking up it might just be the thing messed with electrons in the atmosphere or some other garbledygook and blew out the ultra sensitive components in the devices... or as was mentioned up thread they were about to screw up anyway and the meteorite had nothing to do with it.

Solar flares, lightening strikes, fluctuations in the earths magnetism can mess with electronics. Having a space rock come ripping through the atmosphere like that is bound to have some kind of effect on our little doodads designed around quantum mechanics. Sh*t we don't even fully understand how some of the freaky sh*t at the quantum level works. We just follow the equations to achieve the results they predict.

/again... not a science talking guy
//been watching a lot physics docs lately though
///therefore I know everything

Look, it's simple. The large iron core of the meteorite caused a reverse tachyon flow which overwhelmed the comb filters leading to a large ion flux which in turned caused the deflector dish to route power through the level 3 power couplers and blowing a fuse on the poop deck.

For anybody who isnt aware, insurance fraud is a national sport in Russia.  Thats why all these cars have dash cams, to thwart insurance fraud.

This is like a godsend to this town... they get to claim all kinds of shiat got broken by a magical meteor.

It is highly unlikely that the meteor actually destroyed electronic devices.

The best thing about the graphic collection is the little page of sketches in the back detailing that sweet farking hat.

Oh yeah, like this one.

I'd like to report that the meteor destroyed my Bugatti Royale and the contents of the trunk (or boot, in the UK) which were:

1) the real Mona Lisa, not the crappy one in the Louvre;
2) a rare nude self-portrait of Leonardo Da Vinci playing footsie with King Francis II of France;
3) a case of 1961 vintage Roederer Crystal Champagne;
4) a large salami;
5) my collection of Imperial Faberge Easter Eggs.

I estimate the value of these at $1 million dollars $1 Billion.

I'd think that disruption of the phone networks would have more to do with everybody trying to call everybody else saying "What the fark was that?"

+5 to subby for referencing my favorite Superman story.

Russian Batman's headgear is the sexiest hat to ever exist.

Keep laughing at all this weird post-meteor stuff, it's only a matter of time until they close off major areas near the impact, and stalkers begin working their way through the mosquito manges to find those so-sos and bracelets, and maybe a few empties, as they hunt for the Golden Sphere.

/hopefully not obscure
//bring lots of nuts & bolts

There's a heckuva lot of un-tempered plate glass, breaking in big shards and daggers, in those damage pictures.

How would you discover something like that? Wouldn't that take at least a level three, maybe even level four diagnostic?

That would appear to be the black oil from X-Files.  Kid finding it, so I'm guessing it's from the beginning of the first movie.

That sounds like a picnic to me.

/Though I admit I have not read that book
//I simply know if its existence thanks to STALKER and Metro 2033
