I nominate Addy - Queen of Fark.

I really dont think marijuana intoxication is comparable to alcohol intoxication.  Further more it seems somewhat disingenuous to leave prescription medication out of the conversation.

So the legal limit for cute stoned chicks should be raised 7x?

Rather than getting people used to smoking marijuana they should have got people who'd never done it before, and given them a lot. That would have been more entertaining.

I'll eagerly await the LSD and Cocaine tests.

Where are the Benedryl and Ambien tests?

Everyone knows ambien causes you to kill people in your sleep.

Well goodness, they better rethink that law that will require anyone who uses marijuana to immediately drive a car to the School Children, Puppies, and Fabrege Egg Farmers Market, huh?

Man, on medical marijuana at such a young age. Addy must have some pretty serious back pain.

cute is acceptable, hot is more accurate considering what passes for hittable on Fark.

Cones kind of all look the same when you are high, the difference between the road and a lawn, not so much. Mr officer, backing over a 2ft high cone is nothing like backing into a pole or a person except if it were a midget that was shorter than the trunk

Farking cones.

Or a fire hydrant.

When did it become cool to get all potted up on the weed and drive for fun?

Oh yeah, I forgot...

2013-02-18 09:53:59 AM
So they passed the first test,  Not the results they wanted. So they kept giving them pot until they failed the test, now its a danger to us all.

2013-02-18 10:10:26 AM
I would like to have seen a quick reaction and avoidence test done.  I want to see how they do when a kid darts out in front of them.

2013-02-18 10:21:39 AM
The funny thing is that they all seemed to compensate to the intoxicating effects of marijuana by driving slower and more cautiously. I'd be willing to bet that there is lessof such personal awareness among those who are hammered drunk.

2013-02-18 10:24:17 AM
7x the legal limit on pot = run over a cone, drive slower
7x the legal limit on alcohol = close to death if not dead already

When being filmed by CNN?  Of course they try to drive while drunk as carefully as possible.

I found this to be a much more sympathetic piece toward pot than a scaremonger.  They aired the people saying "I would not get behind the wheel", they showed that minimal amounts cause no dangerous behavior in the subjects, they showed that the habitual user performed well even after smoking a significant amount, and they used test subjects that most Americans couldn't disregard as a blah person or obvious drug addict or whatever.

Yeah, there's lots of fire hydrants in the middle of the road.  You never know when a cluster might spring from the asphalt like mushrooms.

Once again: people high on only pot are not a danger on the road.  If you get truly stoned you want nothing to do with driving.

Furthermore, the red head wasn't behaving the way she would if she was driving on real roads.  She was having fun on a closed course.

2013-02-18 11:51:51 AM
The instructor is clearly the most stoned person in the video.

"Meh, you hit the cone, no biggie."

Yes, they actually acted like adults when dealing with marijuana, for once. The obvious take-away from that test is that the arbitrary 5 nanogram limit is far, far below an amount that causes impairment. But will anyone do anything with that information? We'll have to wait and see.

Also, how are they measuring that? AFAIK residual pot stays in your system for quite awhile. You could be over the legal limit for stuff you smoked weeks ago.

I'm not 100% percent certain But IIRC the road side tests are for active THC, which is what makes you high(over simplification) but once it decays you aren't high anymore; and the piss tests they give you at work tests for other byproducts such as CBN's which hang around in your system a lot longer.

2013-02-18 12:51:04 PM
So the point of this video is?

You can drive after you have smoked pot?
Responsible pot smokers will know when they shouldn't drive?

It seemed like CNN went out there hoping that smoking pot would make you a horrible driver and person and they failed miserably. Also, a huge bias is introduced by having an entire news crew, cameras everywhere, and cops waiting outside and watching you drive. That would make me a bit more cautious about everything. Also, a closed course is nothing like the road and they had only one go around while not high to try and remember it.

The conclusion I get from this video. You can drive while high, just be responsible when you think you've had too much. Hey! Just like alcohol! Better ban alcohol and say it's the devil right?

Mr. Eugenides: I would like to have seen a quick reaction and avoidence test done.  I want to see how they do when a kid darts out in front of them.

If they are pulling out of a drive thru, and the kid is on a bike, then the kid is f*cked.
At least that's what I've learned from watching TV commercials.

I couldn't eve imagine being behind the wheel and in the rain on LSD. I remember leaving a dark apartment listening to pink floyd to goto the store and by m&m's on foot once while in college on LSD. May as well have been traveling to freaking Saturn it was so surreal and harrowing. I don't think I could handle driving a car.

I guess you missed the part where she admitted she was impaired (4:20) and specifically said the reason she was going fast was it would be the only chance she'd ever have to do it (3:53).

Perhaps, just maybe, the legal limit is too low.

The difference being, a stoned person will say "Yeah, I definitely shouldn't be behind the wheel right now."  Whereas the drunk is all like "Yo, y'all shut the fark up--I got this."

She announced essentially that she knew she was in a safe controlled situation so she would try driving faster than she would normally just for the experience and to see if she would screw up.

I'm not advocating driving high, but here's a tip anyway:  Imagine a Sheriff's cruiser following you to your destination.  You'll drive well.

I had the exact opposite experience. I drove straight from SF to Seattle - 18 hours no stops - zonked out of my mind back in my first year at college. It rained for a while once we neared northern Oregon. No biggie, I just hummed along to the rain drops like they were music and figured out that the windshield wipers wanted me to succeed. That's why they were there...to help me.

I felt like I was in a video game. While all my friends slept (on our way back from a music festival), I was enjoying the scenery and very, very, very, serious about keeping the wheels in between the lines.

/Don't know why my friends let me do that
//Probably so they could drop acid too and not have to worry about the driving.
///They're also idiots.

pjargon: Why didn't they do reaction time tests?

Oh CNN...

Because it's a moot point. THC doesn't affect reaction times, that's a drug war myth.
