While Idaho has an at-will employment law, they apparently also have "recognized a breach of an implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing as an exception to at-will employment". Couldn't he reasonably argue that presuming him guilty prior to trial breaches that implied covenant?

It sounds like the child behaved himself just fine throughout the flight, but on descent, was having issues with the altitude change. What do you want the mother to do with a baby who's likely in pain? It's a baby. They don't yet understand directions, and even still, it's reacting to pain, not acting out. What, exactly do you propose that the kid's mother should have done about it. In the final leg of a flight, when you're supposed to be seated, in your seat belt, etc.

Kids have never bothered me on flights...I can ignore crying with some headphones. Adults, however, are another story. I sat next to a paranoid drug addict once who suddenly screamed at my friend and me for talking before the plane ever took off. Then she spaced out for a while before suddenly questioning my friend about his sex life. Another time, I had to spend a late flight next to two very drunk women who couldn't shut up, and kept knocking into me or getting stuff on me. So yeah, crying kids have nothing on idiot adults.

Not to go all internet tough guy, but had this dude slapped my kid, it very well could have been the crime of the century. Watching your kid get messed with will cause most parents to hulk out with a quickness.

I once watched a guy shove a 5 year old at a football game because the kid was dancing over a touchdown scored by the opposing team. The kid's mom, who was probably 5'2" and 120 lbs, rearranged that man's face. It reminded me a lot of that scene from a Christmas Story.

Prosecutor:  This violent racist viciously attacked a defensive infant and needs to be severely fined and punished.

Defense:  It was a screaming baby on a plane.

Jury:  Hmmmm . . . . can we return a verdict of "justifiable asshattery?"  He picks up trash for several weekends and babies are banned from all flights.

19 month old babies cannot control the pressure in their ears the same way older children can. This is a fact of life. If you can't handle a few minutes of crying at the end of a flight, perhaps it is YOU that shouldn't be flying, asshole.
