Don't YOU want to buy someone's else problem?

2013-02-18 06:17:16 AM
Probably a fake trying to get someone to pay over the odds for it and attract attention/bidders.

2013-02-18 06:18:16 AM
starting bid must be too high. this tomfoolery is usually greeted with several willing takers.

/ i'd just set it out with the garbage for pick-up

A popup!
A Goddamned popup for an APP no less!

If you look closely, you'll see a smudge that somehow resembles a face. Look carefully and you'll see it. Creepy.

That's the founding principle of Ebay.

Why no bidders?
a.) Starting bid of £100($155)
b.) Local pickup only(London)

If he claimed he sees the face of Jesus in it, I'm sure he'd get lots of takers.

$155 for a mirror he admits that he pulled from the junk pile.   If he gets a single serious bid for that, I think we can officially say we've found the solution for step 2.

FTFA: "I would ideally like it to go to somebody who has experience with the paranormal/supernatural and knows what they are getting themselves in for."

If i were in London, i would respond to them as a Paranormal Expert, with a specialty in dealing with Paranormal Inanimate objects... I would arrive to their "flat" carrying a attache. I would walk straight over to the mirror, then begin clearing furniture or whatever away from the mirror in a 6 foot radius. I would open the attache, pull out a black 6 foot cloth and lay in front of the mirror. I would pull out a single candle, and place it under the mirror and light it. I would do all this without saying a word while they watched.

Then i would pull out an Estwing claw hammer and smash the FARK out of that ugly-ass mirror. Blow out the candle, bundle the candle and all the shards up in the black drop cloth and place it all in a black trash bag and march it to the curb...

I would then comeback and say, "I lit the candle becaue i like the smell of cinnamon when i break things... stop being a superstitious farkward"

Awesome idea, dude. Imagine it! If he claimed to see the face of Jesus in it, he could build a little shrine in his back garden and charge people admission to see it. Kinda like going to church, but instead of 10% of your income, it would be a flat rate, you wouldn't be "talked at" and you could leave when you wanted without people giving you harsh glares. He could make a LOT of money. He needs to switch up his story, methinks.

heh, he could then add a little plaque under it that reads "The face of Jesus... is inside you..." So when people come up and go "I don't see jesus... oooooooh... clever!"

When people are having trouble selling something on ebay they put the word "Haunted" next to it and make up a story. It attracts the idiots. Do a search on "Haunted" on ebay and you'll see tons of "haunted" items.

[blog.apartmentlist.com image 250x262]

About half serious. I've heard of people doing things like that before. I saw a story online (or maybe on the tee-vee?) several years back about a family in Mexico that did something like that and charged an entrance fee into their home so people could see the miracle (as they believed it to be). 'Cept it was the Virgin Mary they had in some mold or maybe a "blessed" statue or something. It was too long ago. They made a fair bit of pesos off the deal, all things considered.

The guy's most likely trying to get a movie deal. Since this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0431021/  was taken from this http://articles.latimes.com/2004/jul/25/entertainment/ca-gornstein25 . Should try another item then a mirror as the only good thing about a movie with a killer mirror were Christy Carlson Romano's boobs (NSFW).

Is it still true that houses in the US that are reputed to be haunted sell for 2/3rd the value of other equivalent houses?

/was it ever true, I think I heard it on QI which is usually quite good with facts

If you suspect your house is haunted, play "Dancing on the Ceiling" at full blast and dance like crazy to the song in the most awkward way possible.  The house will promptly kick you out and then shrink into nothingness all the way to another dimension.

The problem is that people want to feel guilty and abused. That way they can have hot dirty shame sex in the backseat of an El Camino, then be forgiven and feel like they got one over on God.

I think the claim that the mirror is haunted has less to do with the lack of bids than the fact that no one wants to pay $155+ for a crappy wall mirror.

From the auction details:

- The phone line and internet in our flat has gone dead despite our equipment working fine, and Talk Talk (our internet provider) have yet to find the cause.

That's not uncommon with TalkTalk.
