Any illness that deals with the brain can result in the nicest of people doing horrible things. Look at Chris Benoit as an example

Summa cum loudly: shower_in_my_socks: R.A.Danny: shower_in_my_socks: Someone at Gawker just commented that 10% of the Celebrity Rehab participants from the last two years are dead. 5 dead in 2 years,
supposedly. Drugs and alcohol aren't the answer, kiddies.

Oh no, it isn't their fault. People that kill their kids or their dogs before killing themselves are victims.

If they have a mental illness, yes. That is exactly right. Welcome to the real world.

You know what...Fark you and your mental illness. As soon as someone commits MURDER, all my sympathy for their "illness" goes right out the window. Cancer is an illness, Diabetes is an illness.....And drug addiction is also an illness....until you kill innocent people. Then you are simply a murdering fark. End of Story.

i believe Miranda might have something to say about that.
last thing i saw was a story on the today show about her boyfriend dying and they said it looked "suspicious" and there were innuendos that she was involved.

/i know who most of these country singers are unfortunately having been raised in Oklahoma and this was the only type of music my parents allowed to be played in the house.  that and the fact if you live out in the boonies in this state every station plays either country or gospel music, and this is all the music Mrs. Funk likes to listen to.

It's still hilarious to me. And so far so good in this thread, fellow Farkers. keep it up!

Seriously, it's morbid in a way, but whenever a celebrity dies, I come to Fark for the meme thread.

I'm mostly Irish. Our funerals are almost as much fun as our weddings. (there's an old joke about that)

It depends on the severity of their derangement. For example, if a guy kills someone because he's a paranoid schizophrenic with no grasp on reality, then I don't view him any differently than a rabid dog. The person needs to be removed from society, but I don't have hatred toward them.

At a certain point, blaming them is like blaming a hurricane.

of course you don't have to. But the brain is a delicate thing and when things go wrong with it bad shiat happens. I just hope you understand that much.

shower_in_my_socks: R.A.Danny: No. Depression doesn't pull a trigger. Depression doesn't force anything. Weakness does.

You have no idea what you're talking about. A person with clinical depression is like someone with cancer. The world would be a slightly better place if more people would realize this. People don't do rational, normal things when they're mentally disturbed. I know someone who committed suicide -- we all knew it was only a matter of time before the mental illness won. There was nothing that could be done, and it wasn't their fault.

Ok, let's be honest. if you have depression (which, unlike cancer, is dependent on a subjective evaluation to determine rather than a lab or other quantitative test) and you don't care enough about yourself because of depression, your friends aren't (unless they are the "I don't have enough to occupy my own life so let me bust into and micro-manage your business" friends), and your family isn't (because they are tired of listening to you whine, or carrying your ass financially because "I just can't...", but no one will admit they are sick of you because it puts them in a bad light) interested nor do they care. I feel bad if you feel bad. Full stop. However, your right to feel bad is YOUR RIGHT, whether it's personality driven or chemically driven. Either way, so what? Your employer doesn't care, your acquaintances don't care and taxpayers possibly paying your SSDI don't care either. You want to off yourself because of it? Be my guest! Don't drag them to a hospital that they don't want to go to because they will end up with hospital bills they can't pay and then IF they struggle through it, their financial life (and anything else requiring an accounting of your time) is ruined. Wanna know how * I * know this? Can I guess which one of the aforementioned categories you fit into?

For Christ's sake: If someone wants to kick their own bucket, you are the one that will feel bad about it... not them. You will probably only feel bad because you would feel worse if you didn't. If they were to feel anything afterward, it would probably be relief from the harpy do-gooders that are telling them "It gets better... don't let a permanent solution solve a temporary problem". Let nature do its job... no more survival of the weakest. Look what it leads to! Sheesh.

That's very sad. Substance abuse, mental health issues. And her bf died under mysterious circumstances. One has to wonder. And why did you have to shoot your dog? It probably loved you? Sighs. Just a sad waste. Lovely girl, talented singer, young, and gone just like that.

Summa cum loudly and R.A. Danny, don't you guys have a Larry the Cable Guy show to go to?

2013-02-17 11:41:03 PM

First, the serious talk. Such a sad story. 37 years old, small kids, recently dead boyfriend. The long fall from being a top superstar to this. Years of drug addiction, legal troubles, and suicide attempts. Also almost killed by a bf if I remember correctly. Just depressing, and not at all shocking or surprising. This is FARK, so enough of that.

I guess she's one of "ten thousand angels" now. "All she wanted was everything" and "maybe he'll notice her now". But "you'll never know". When it comes to suicide, "guys do it all the time", and she was always "maybe, maybe not" when it came to doing it.

Well, there's compassionate, and there's being a retard. Guess which one you are?

LessO2: MrHelpful: SmackLT: Holy shiat, that sucks. Sounds like she was broken hearted after her boyfriend died. What a shame.

What do you suppose her problem was for the many years before that?

Alcohol.   Not a supposition, well documented.

Alcohol was her choice of self-medication to numb the pains that stemmed from her myriad of problems.  Alcohol is but a band-aid to the wounds of an alcoholic.  That's "not a supposition".  It's "well documented".

I take edgy stands like that,
