I've seen every Star Trek episode two or three times, and I did not realize until this very moment that Sulu and Chekov are two different characters.  Was one of them a replacement character for the other or something?

Judging from the main page of that site he's actually catching some flak over the Sulu image.

The colours I use are straight from the source, by which I mean I use Photoshop to pick the colour right off the photo of the character I am trying to emulate

Haha, nope.

No, he's right. He took the color right off that shirt.

Sulu/Takei went on hiatus in season 2 to go off and make Green Berets 1968 so they brought in the Chekov character as replacement but then rehired Takei when the filming wrapped up. After he came back the two sorta shared the amount of lines of one character. Probably didn't help that Kirk went through the scripts and tried to steal all the best lines for himself and that the relationship between Kirk McCoy and Spock overshadowed the rest of the cast

Would really like to see an animated series of ST again. Was a huge fan of the original animated series and, of course, the Alan Dean Foster books of those shows in which you actually got more backstory.

Just think of the layers man ....

Star Trek is being done by Pixar, which is owned by Disney, which also owns Star WARS.

You know what this means?  You know what this will bring?

I only vaguely recall the star trek animated episodes.  I recall 2 things though in particular:  1)  some of the aliens freaked me out.  I think I remember an octopus like alien strangling a crew member.  2)  I recall an episode where some giant captured spoke and put him in a glass coffin for some reason.

Anyway  I am in favor of making another animated (hand drawn) star trek series.

I can see where your coming from, but I think the Ferengi are clearly meant to be business-minded Americans. Archer even says to the first one he meets, after hearing about the Rules of Acquisition "Y'know. That kind of thinking nearly destroyed our civilization not too long ago."

Not sure if Mugato is coming from there or just making fun of the people who think the Ferengi are Jewish stereotypes.

Interpretations of Ferengi as a parody of Judaism

In the book Religions of Star Trek, Ross S. Kraemer wrote that "Ferengi religion seems almost a parody of traditional Judaism... Critics have pointed out a disturbing correlation between Ferengi attributes (love of profit that overrides communal decency; the large, sexualized head feature, in this case ears) and negative Jewish stereotypes." Commentator Jonah Goldberg wrote that Ferengi were portrayed in The Next Generation as "runaway capitalists with bullwhips who looked like a mix between Nazi caricatures of Jews and the original Nosferatu."

After 2009, Enterprise IS the only canon. Think on that.

Of all the things that Jonah Goldberg claims to know more about than I do, he is most wrong about Star Trek.

Cross media design isn't really a new concept.  I read Countdown.  It fills in the gaps pretty well and it's sort of a "last hurrah" to the old universe, with many of the NG characters you love getting their dream jobs.
