TheBigLie: It seems typical of American rhetoric that "Liberty or Death" is their battle cry when one of their grievances was the fact they couldn't keep slaves.  Did no one back then even notice this?  It's almost like the First Amendment should have been the right to cognitive dissonance.

The Texans were just demonstrating the time-honored principle that when you immigrate to another country you speak their language, adopt their customs, and above all, obey their laws.

On that fateful day, Davy Crockett woke up and walked from his bunk on the floor of the Alamo up to the observation post on the west wall.

William B. Travis and Jim Bowie were up there already. The three gazed at the hordes of Mexicans moving steadily towards them.

Davy turned to Bowie with a puzzled look on his face and said, "Jim, are we landscaping today?"

A British guy, a French dude ,a Mexican, and a Texan are on a plane. The captain comes on the radio and says,"We have lost Engine 1 ,please throw all the luggage and any unused seats out of the airplane to lighten the load." So they do. Then he comes back on the radio and says,"We have lost Engine 2,would anyone please jump out of the plane to lighten the load." The British guy volunteers to and as he jumps out he screams"God save the Queen!" Then the pilot comes back on the radio and says,"We have lost Engine 3,would someone else volunteer to jump out of plane to lighten the load." So the french guy jumps out of the plane and screams,"Viva La France!"Then before the pilot can say anything else the Texan grabs the Mexican, throws him out, and  screams ....."REMEMBER THE ALAMO!

Why is Mexican in quotes?

Much of the troops attacking the Alamo were fellow Texans, who, for whatever reason thought that "Mexican" rule worked for them.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: What's surprising to learn is that those who took a stand at the Alamo didn't last very long at all.  Once the Mexican Army decided to attack they lasted something like 90 minutes.  Small surprise, really, given how enormously outnumbered they were.

and even more surprising is 5,000 Mexican troops were transported to San Antonio in six wagons....

What are you talking about?  It's not a Taco Bell.  It's a place to watch movies and drink beer at the same time.
